Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and youíll enjoy itís subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

I said to my lovely girlfriend "Ummmm...my god....come be a part of this beer". She came in, sniffed curiously, took a sip and after a few deliciously girly coos and cahs said "I think that is my favourite beer I have ever had". And that folks, is the way she goes. I could go on about how it looks but Iíd rather make it clear that I now feel like a dumb-dumb for having only got two bottles, one for now and one to cellar. The flavour is so damned wonderful that I donít even feel like writing about all of the nuance about it. If you like fine, strong, scrumptious, roasty, dark beers and you are financially solvent and have access to an area that hovers around 10 degrees Celsius, do yourself a solid. Buy a case or two.

This is my perfect beer. Pours inky-black with a thin brown lace. Excellent mouthfeel and a medium-heavy body but without any syrupy consistency. Tastes of chocolate, cherries, brandy, almonds, sherry, molasses and strawberries, with a sweet though not cloying aftertaste. Well-balanced sweetness that doesnít feel sugary or overpowering. Good medium-light fizziness, not overcarbonated, and a smooth mouthfeel. Fantastic beer, one of the best porters in the world!

Pour is jet black with a reddish cap that sticks around for a bit and leaves some light lace. Nose is chocolate, dark cherries, molasses, vanilla, caramel, light coffee, wood and smoke. Taste is unabashedly sweet, yet somehow not heavy, and not at all cloying. Itís all chocolate and cherries and molasses, with a perfect balance of roasted malt bitterness on the finish. Alcohol is there for a bit of warmth, but otherwise so well-masked. Texture is pure velvet. Itís definitely intense, definitely a slow sipper, but it goes down so damn smooth. Epic stuff.

Basically perfect, rich velvety palate, fruity, chocolatey, a touch of coffee. Complex beer that really evokes "baltic porter" rather than just "imperial stout with a different name."

2011 Vintage. 750ml bottle. Sweet Jesus, this lives up to the hype! Pours black with a one finger mocha coloured head. Smells so damn good! Molasses, big chocolate and cocoa, caramel, light spearmint, butterscotch sauce, light Butter Rum Lifesavers, and some light dark coffee too. Taste wise, itís sweet, medium bodied with caramel, molasses, alcohol, dates, raisin, and light amaretto that heads into some strong dark roast coffee notes, roasty malts, light ash, and a bitter finish that showcases more dark roast coffee. Iíve never had this fresh out of the bottle, so I donít know if itís the age that is helping it out, but this is flat out awesome. This beer makes the world a better place. Iím sure of it! Drive to Quebec right now, and stock up.

2014 bottle. Pours a near black/caramel with a thin, khaki head. Aroma has nice, sweet notes of roast with some brown sugar, caramel, chocolate, and mild spices. Taste is sweet but balances. Medium roast with dark chocolate, caramel, brown sugar. Medium-full body with a low-medium carbonation. Smooth in the mouth with a silky texture. Overall very tasty. Caramel and roast with a smooth texture.
