Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and you’ll enjoy it’s subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

Very dark color, close to black, but with dark tobacco shades on the side; very small head.
Aroma of roasted malt and coffee, with an interesting leather wrapping, and some wood.
Strong body, the mouthfeel is a bit oily, and the carbonation is quite low; perfect blend of chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, supported by the sweetness level that I like, with a balanced bitter final; some traces of tobacco, liquorice, alcohol, roasted nuts.
A great beer!

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Hard roast malt aroma, sweet dried fruit, a little tar and manure (meant as something positive!) Rich body, low carbonation, sweet hard roast, dark dried fruits, wood, vanilla and tar. Very subdued bitterness. 080411

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a thin dark brown beer. The aroma has notes of alcohol, roasted malt, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with alcohol, roasted malt, caramel, and chocolate, leading to a dry and roasted finish.

750ml bottle, corked n’ caged, thanks to flipper2gv on BA. Nearly black in color with a large tan head that leaves a thick tan ring on the glass. The aroma bursts out of the glass with big dark chocolate, roast, anise, and coffee. Classic and great with no one smell standing out. The flavor is enormous, with sweet dark chocolate, slight espresso, roastiness, caramel, and maybe even some dark fruity notes, raisin and black cherry maybe. Smooth and silky mouthfeel with fairly full body and slight carbonation. Overall this is excellent. Probably top 5% in the style.

750 ml bottle. Pours a pure black color with a large brown head. A sweet smoky dark fruity nose, some caramel. The flavor is excellent; rich smoky sweet malts, dark fruit, caramel, a very good example of the style. Heavy but drinkable.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2012 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Huge Porter. Huge ! Black pour with a big, foamy tan head. Complex aroma of chocolate, liquorice, coffee and smoked malts. Taste has a big emphasis on coffee and peat. Rich, thick dark chocolate in there as well. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Bloody awesome

Bottle via tytoanderso, thanks a billion! Automne 2008Pours a beautiful dark brown with luscious brown head that paints the glass with each swirl. Thick Baltic porter-like nose steaming with malty and slightly salty sensations of nuts, chocolate, and berries but also foreshadowing a big, thick, malty monster of a beer, and I hope it comes through... Nice, thick malty flavors bring back the chocolate and nuts and sprinkle them with a touch of saltiness. Nice thick body, perfectly balancing hop bitterness, and body-accentuating alcohol that’s neither hot nor boozy. The perfect execution of the hopping in this beer really sets it apart from most Baltic Porters IMO..it really just pops this beer to whole other level. Practically perfection within Baltic Porter parameters, at least in what I consider Baltic Porter perfection...which of course could very well deviate from official style guidelines but I don’t really give a rat’s ass about style guidelines. Love it!
