COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and you’ll enjoy it’s subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

750 ml bottle, 2009. Pours jet black with a 2 finger thick head thats the color of a brown paper bag. Not much in the way of lace. Sweet caramel & chocolate aroma. Very enticing. Creamy, moderately thick palate. A pleasure to drink. Taste is molasses, bakers chocolate, pumpernickel, licorice, roasted nut and a somewhat bitter finish. Very nice porter.

On cask for Cask Days at Volo in Toronto. Served in an English pint glass. Pours red-black with a small, rocky tan head. The head remains but leaves no lace. The nose has notes of roasted malt, coffee, flowers and herbal hops. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout with notes of herbs. It acquires a moderate bitterness towards the end. The finish is long and bitter, with prominent dry hopping. It is full in body with a smooth, syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, I was impressed by this beer. The dry hopping was a nice complement. 2010-10-29

Belle douceur. Maintenant j’va m’coucher. Une très bonne bière.

Bottle. Pours black with shades of brown. Thick and creamy tan head with modereate rentention. Aroma is blackcherry, wood, coffee, ash and plums. Taste is less coffee-heavy than aroma suggests, but a bit more chocolatey and smokey. Long, chocolate finish. This is the 2010 edition.

Aroma is vinious with chocolate, toffee and cherries. Pours black with a caramel coloured head. Flavour is a bit smoked with chocolate, coffee, toffee and vinious with a hint of cherries. Nice and full palate with a long chocolaty aftertaste. High carbonation.

Bottle. [thanks, cfrancis]
Pour is completely black with a fine, staying, frothy, beige head. Slightly fizzy. Aroma has good malty tartness, blackberries, roasted malts, dark chocolate, figs, raisins and liqourice. Highish carbonation, lively, creamy yet elegantly easy mouthfeel. Flavour is very complex. Lots of dark chocolate throughout. Raisins, some roasted malts and quite a firm malty astringent tartness. Blackberries, light coffee. Very long, lingering, warming and light malty bitter aftertaste. This is quite a great example of the style where malts are used for both sweetness, alcohol, bitterness and tartness. Great!

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2010 2009 bottle from Alain at Peluso, whom I paid for it. Very dark blackish brown, brown cap is denser than Moose from Archie comics. Aroma is herbal sweet and fruit. Tastes grapey. chocolatey, and has an earthy herbal presence.Has a bit of roast, and some restrained bitterness. it’s more just another sweet fruity Quebec beer than it is a real Baltic Porter, to be quite honest. But it’s well-made. ** update ** the next dat this is drinking just as well and I’m getting a little wild blueberry in the flavors, nice Up the flavors .1 despite the predominant Quebec sweetness - still a sexy beer.

astoundingly beautiful beer. smooth, rich, silken chocolate, with the merest heat belaying the 10% alc. Long, warm, rich, mouthfilling finish. Astoundingly clean, and smooth. Super super beer.
