Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and youíll enjoy itís subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

Bottle courtesy of my Canadian Secret Santa -- thanks!! Glad to get a second crack at this one. Pours a roasted coffee color with a nice beige head. Killer aroma -- almost like this was barrel aged. Smells and tastes of toasted malt, semi-sweet cocoa, and vanilla. This really was as good as I drunkenly remember it being the first time.

750 ml Bottle 10.02.05 this is the autumn 2009 cuvee. Dark and mounted by a superb tan head It has an excellent lacing. Aroma : Chocolaty, caramel at first than woody and nutty itís pleasant. Bitterness is enough and help making that malt focused beer digestive. Itís full in body. Whereís the 10%? I canít perceive any hotness from the alcohol itís really smooth and easy to drink. An other fine example beer from that great brewery. Keep the GC coming.

Inviting nose of roast coffee, dark chocolate, anise and brazil nuts, black as coal, pours a teasing little cappuccino head. Flavour is roast coffee, loads of dark chocolate and some liquorice notes too. Full bodied, extremely well balanced, bitter, entirely too drinkable. Majestic!

I was well into the brewing session when I pulled the cork ont htis baby that MartinT sent down to me in trade. It had begun to drizzle as the sparge ended and the boil began on my smoked porter. I had been listening to a book on the Revolutionary War. This elixir plus the cool winter breeze and the freezing drizzle put me in a contemplative mood as I got the burner going for the 75 minute boil. Pours a a photo eating black.. Light chocolate cocoa nose is interrupted by my hop bag stuffings for the boil. CRAP. Body is elongated but not full as I had expected. may be that it was a bit on the cool side sitting on the porch. Not much heat. Slick finish. Merci!

Poors an intense black beer. Smells chocolat, coffee with a small presence of smoke. Taste the chocolat with a final in smoke, mayby just a bit too strong. Overall, a great beer that will get even better with some years.

750 ml bottle. Pours a very deep woody brown almost charcoal black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is maple syrup sweetness, with some hints of soy oxidation- sugary sweet, dark candy sugar toasty biscuit and some chocolate- light burnt notes. Flavor is dark charred malts, brown, toast, nutty biscuit- more soy oxidation- toast, rope, leather earth and herbal light astringent. Ok.

Whew! good/strong stuff! Deep, strong malt and alcohal smells, lots of earthiness too. Great dark head on pour, thins quickly, not much onlacing. Very dark stuff. STRONG dark maltt flavour, Dark coffe at the end. Nice and foamy on the tounge/throat. Very strong (alc), dark and smooth. A very dark coffeeish malty ale.

Pours Black with a thick beige head Very roasty with notes of chocolate. very malty. Flavour is wild. Lots of chocolate followed by roasted malt followed by chololate all infused with the flavour of the sea. Rich malty and salty this is an impressive brew! I Love it. It is deep and unique great profile. One of the best beers I have ever had.
