Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and you’ll enjoy it’s subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle purchased at Depanneur Peluso in Montreal. Black pour with a big, creamy light tan head. Aroma holds smoked malt in the foreground, with notes of caramel, chocolate, and lactic cream on the second tier. Flavor is much sweeter and richer, with greatly increased chocolate notes, like fudge brownie. The smoke backs off, replaced with molasses and a touch of coffee. Beautiful silky smooth mouthfeel. Really a damn good baltic porter.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a snifter. Dark chocolately brown with a slight reddish hue. No head to speak of. Chocolate on the aroma, with an oaky touch to it. Outstanding smooth flavour of coffee and oak. Beautiful velvety softness and a bitter (but completely pleasant) after taste. Outstanding, very good.

[on tap] Potent vanilla and rum aroma with a little coffee and cinnamon. Oily, almost opaque black appearance, under some thin foam dots. Tangy ethanol together with strong vanilla and bitter coffee. Molasses accent and detectable hops. Medium body, moderately warming, moderate carbonation, moderate vanilla tang finish.

Chocolate caramel nose, pours a dark dark brown with a very dark brown head. Taste is an almost smoky, toasted caramel flavour dominating with a warming spicinessstaying on the tongue well after the beer is gone.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2011 EDIT: 2011 vintage: big changes this year, but no less outstanding. Instead of molasses, I’m getting big cherry in the middle. Rest is the same though, big in the mouth, beautiful in the glass. what a beer. This is a fantastic beer from one of PQs great micros. Intense coffee and acohol aroma with.hint of molasses. Top notch.

Extreme dark chocolate brown with a thick skiff floating on top that got replenished with each swirls of the glass. Massive sweet malty aroma, milk chocolate, caramel, some mild spice. Smells so epically good it’s just so heavy and smooth I can’t stop smelling. Yum yum yum…………….taste is also epic!! Thick milk chocolate, and heavy roasted malts hints coffee, dark berry sweetness and a vanilla finish. Flavor is actually kind of simple but sooooooo dam good. I love this beer

Great pour! Comes out thick with its black colour and huge dark foamy brown crown that settles down to light cover. Excellent aromas of sweet caramel, molasses, soft chocolate, light licorice, 50/50 bread, faint spice, smells much better early on. Tasty! Chocolate (lots), plenty of toasted malts, vanilla, notable spice when warmer, touch of heat, vanilla, caramel. Thick, viscous mouth feel, leaves a carpet of coating and a great finish. Started out great then got a bit stale then finished STRONG. Awesome.
