COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike typical porters, our Baltic Porter is brewed in the traditional style as a bottom-fermenting lager. The result is a luxuriously round, but robust, black beer with a mild bitterness. A special blend of roasted malts provides this porter with flavors and aromas of chocolate and coffee, and you’ll enjoy it’s subtle hints of cherry-smoked malt.

Deep black in colour with a nice tan-coloured head. Aroma is malt, chocolate and coffee with a tinge of fruitiness. Nice body with a roasted coffee flavour that is followed by a bit of sugar. Alcohol is quite well hidden, but adds a tiny touch of warmth. Excellent brew.

Roasted malt flavor lets itself be known right away in the aroma. Pours a nice coffee color with a thick tan head tha disappears quickly. The first few sips of this beer were excellent. The roasted maltt and chocolate came to the front and some more subtle almost berry characteristics were at the back, but after half a glass it was all roasted malt and got a little bitter. Maybe it’s just the style of beer. Good stuff though.

Draught at Le Saint-Bock, Montreal. Deep brown with a small tan head. Strong aroma of deep roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit. Soft, creamy mouthfeel - none of the sticky, syrupy character often found in Baltics. Full-flavoured, sweet and roasty, with notes of coffee, charred malt, and freshly baked dark chocolate chip cookies. Drinks more like a 6% beer than a 9.8%. Excellent!

Bouteille 750 ml.

The pour reveals a pitch black color with a thick tan head. Strong and pleasant aroma of chocolate, roasted malt and toasted bread. Very good flavor of chocolate, vanila, roasted and smoked malt and toasted bread with a bitter finish. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and moderate carbonation.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2008 In short: Ultra-dry cacaolized roasted porter. Very good.
How: Bottle 750ml (one bottle on first week of release and another bottle 2 months old)
The look: Black body with a short-lived tan head
In long: When first released the brew felt very roasted and syrupy. A few months later the roastiness level is medium and the beer has dried out a lot. Powdery and dry cacao sensation. Burnt toasts with Nutella. Light fruity notes of prunes and blackberries. Body is round and smooth despite the overall dryness. Notes of charcoal. Mouth drying finish. Lively carbonation. No alcohol presence at all. Very good brew although not quite the sweet/syrupy taste I’ve come to expect from Baltic Porters. Quite original in fact. The one-batch Signature brews from Trois Mousquetaires truly are excellent but when drinking them I’m also sad to think that they might not be brewed again. Because of that they bring me both great pleasure and sadness like watching a beautiful 18th century historical building burn down with the KKK leaders still trapped inside for their annual meeting.

On tap at l’Autre Oeil (Gatineau, Qc). Pours a blacj opaque body with a thin but lasting beige foamy head. Good malty aroma with coffeeish hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Nice, complex taste that darries roasted coffee, black chocolate and brown sugar notes. Ends with a robust bitter/roasty finish. Well done!

750ml bottle brewed for L’Autre Oeil, dark pitch black color, with a tan-colored head, but falls quickly, roasty, black malt nose, with some burnt toast and black coffee bean notes, with a faint vanilla, mochaish-espresso accent, with a black chocolatey a subtle fruity aroma with a full-bodied palate with a sweet fruity, toasty, roasted black malt character, with a dark bitter-chocolatey note, with some vanilla, mocha, burnt coffee bean accents, with a faint plummy, datey, juicy flavor, with warmth mouthfeel, leading towards a warming, fruity, dry roastiness finish.
