3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 KickInChalice (851) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 4, 2012Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a tulip.
My pour is a robust mahogany brown color with a walnut edge. A slight ruby tint is visible in the thin parts of the glass as well. A medium sized tan head forms initially and fades to a ring over time.
The aroma has a full, smooth roasted malt presence. Some creamy chocolate, dark cherries, a bit of oak, and vanilla all round out the aroma.
The flavor is quite sweet. There is a smooth, medium roasted malt with a sweet, dark chocolate presence. There is a little bit of molasses and vanilla, with a building cherry oak presence and a bit of unspecified dark orchard fruit. The finish stays sweet, with a touch of smoke, and smooth.
Porter Baltique is smooth, rich, creamy, and definitely masks its 10% ABV very well. It is unfortunatley sticky and a little too far on the sweet side. The carbonation is a little lighter than medium and has a creamy nature. On the other hand, the body is definitely on the full side.
I liked this overall. It is full and rich, although it may be a bit sweet to drink too much of it.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 elgiacomo (735) - Ringgold/Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, USA - JUN 16, 2013
750ml bottle, 2012 vintage. Served at cellar temperature. Been looking for this guy for quite a while and very excited to try it out.
Pours very dark brown to black with a one finger foamy brown head that settles to a nice creamy cap and leaves some short-lived lacing behind.
Aroma is overripe dark fruits, a little acidic, some oxidation, some chocolate. Good but not great strength.
The flavor is mighty impressive. Big time rich chocolate and in-your-face dark fruits, dates, figs, raisins, tart cherries. Rather sweet. Minimal bitterness. Some alcohol on the finish but not bad for 10%.
Mouthfeel is medium-plus, nearly full bodied, good carbonation, a little sticky.
Excellent Baltic Porter. While the aroma is only OK, the flavor is fantastic. Very rich and complex.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 chris__hartley (190) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 16, 2013
It pours deep mahogany almost black (it is opaque); the head is tan and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: sour-cherries, charcoal, prunes, wood-smoke, brett, and chocolate. The taste is medium sweet that finishes medium sour and light dry; there are notes of: the aforementioned aroma notes, and very distinctive brett notes (that really accentuate the taste). The palate is full bodied, moderately viscous, slightly stick, low carbonation, and a long finish. Overall, simply amazing - and the accidental brett created some amazing flavours.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Bière-Luc (358) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 19, 2013
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 fletchfighters (840) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 18, 2013
750 ML bottle
Jet black color, two finger head that falls to a thick collar. No lacing but good ABV legs.
Coffee, wood, chocolate, subtle notes of cherry, and earthy bitterness. Nice warming nose.
Sweet tasting. Brown sugar, maple syrup, dark fruits, sweet chocolate. some coffee. Not as earthy as the nose leads to at all. Very smooth tasting with sweetness.
Sweet and slick feel. Bitterness shows back up in the palate. Not very earthy as the sweetness really undercuts it. Still robust but more of a dessert beer.
Nice, but the sweetness is a bit much. Good nightcap

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BreWedge (182) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 10, 2013
750 ml bottle. Pours a near opaque dark brown with a large mocha colored head. Aromas are chalk, coffee, chocolate, ripe berries, and a bit of smoke. Tastes are chocolate, coffee, sweet malts, some smoke and alcohol. Robust on the palate, moderate to heavy carbonation, slightly bitter finish. Not bad but not well suited to my tastes. Masks the 10% abv fairly well.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 rarbring (705) - Linköping, SWEDEN - APR 13, 2013
Aroma: Smelling of burnt bread, some ashes, dark dried fruits, sausages. Appearance: The beer is black with a light brown head, little lacing and rather small curtains. Taste: Intensely sweet start, candid sugar, toast, dates, figs, dark chocolate, a hint of cocoa beans. Palate: Little carbonation, oily and smooth, a huge body. Overall: Really a treat, "probably the best Baltic porter in the world". Note: Bottle 750 ml (thx to Kenneth Malmqvist, bought it in Montreal) Reviewed 2012-07-06.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scopey (3380) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 8, 2013
Bottle from Kensington Wine Market, Calgary. It pours deep brown with a small off-white head. The nose is caramel, cola, cherryade, cocoa, wood and earth. The taste is pretty sweet actually....cola, roasted malt, sweet liquorice, tanginess, cherryade, umami aspect, brown sugar and chocolate. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Hides alcohol well. Not bad, just too sweet really.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 stoutnick (182) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - APR 3, 2013
Beautiful looking - black with tan head. Looks like a stout! Smell is like sweet dark malt with a mild roasty character. Taste is cherry first. So rich. Lots of complexity. And the medium carbonation is perfect for the rich flavours. Palate is a bit clingy. Overall, a brilliant porter.
