En bouteille. Brassin Hiver 2010.

750ml bottle from Le Gobelet. drank out of weizen glass, pours a murky brown with an off white head that quickly fades away. aroma is all dark fruits, malts, and of course alcohol. the alcohol is quite over powering in both the nose and the taste. maybe it’s just the style, but i didn’t enjoy this one very much.

On tap @Vices et Versa. Aroma is an enticing toasted malt, and fine chocolate, deep brown, tiny tan head. Flavour is an epic hit of roasted malt, chocolate, toast, woody and nutty too. Full bodied, perfectly balanced, lovely bitterness, terribly easy to drink even at 11%.Sensational!!

Bottle… Murky prune-colored ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Great retention. Smells sweet, vinous, roasted and lactic – infection, I fear. Full-bodied with flimsy carbonation. Sugary, roasted flavor – akin to a cup of mocha java with about eight spoonfuls of sugar. Only a whisper of acidity. Bittersweet, roasted finish. Not infected after all. Kudos to MartinT for providing the bottle!

Poors a dark beer with some plum colors. Very strong aroma of fruits. A caramel taste, a little bit sour, with fruits and alchool. Will get better if aged.

Trois Mouquetaires is one of my favourite breweries in Quebec and this is why. Aroma is malt, sharp alcohol and dark purple fruits. Pours a plum dark brown with a minimal white head. Taste is purple fruits, malt and the bitterness of alcohol. Well balanced, fairly complex flavours that fills the palate. Very enjoyable beer that I’ll look forward yearly.

50 ml bottle from Marche Jovi, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. DE 24/09.

App.: Very deep brown-mahogany with a moderate light tan head. Aroma: Slightly tangy, minty licorice, some molasses, some wheat, wet hay, bright dried fruits, caramel, brown sugar, figs, some dark chocolate, malt all over the place. Palate: Medium+ body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: More dark dried fruits than the nose, figs, apricots, milk chocolate, plenty of alcohol, some vanilla, rum, vinous, slightly salty and savoury, so much raisin; sweet with enough bitterness and a fair bit of warming alcohol.

This is a nice example of a big beer.

750ml. bottle, 2009 vintage. Dark red brown with a nice brownish head. Lots of fruity esters, cassonade and some tar dominates the aromas. Full body, alcohol well hidden, warming the throat nicely, loads of dried fruits on the palate lasting trough the finish. Really great example of a strong weizenbock. A real treat for lager lovers.

Bottle at Sune’s - Thanks to Mikkel for bringing it to Denmark. Clear dark red/brown - offwhite head. Licorice, alcoholic, raisins, dried fruits, sweetness, brown sugar, bitterness, sticky body. Too alcoholic.
