Bottle from the LCBO. Hazy straw-gold with a prodigious bright white head. Aroma of lemon and gooseberry, cracked wheat, a bit of salt. Body is soft and crisp, great refresher. Flavour is somehow bright and fusty at the same time, with ripples of fresh lemon balanced by an earthy saltiness and a bit of peppery yeast. Finish is suitably dry and tart, inspiring the swigs and swallows to proceed in a rapid succession. May not be for everyone, but for me, it’s a first rate beer that I’ve been drinking a lot of this summer.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2014 37,5cl bottle courtesy of & grand goseanna! to idiosynkrasie. Very elegant bottle and label design, (over)informative label complete with IBUs, list of ingredients, SRM, suggested glassware, pairings suggestions (pad thai: check) and all. Pours a silky green-inflected wey. Some salt and lacto, lemongrass lemonade in the nose. Quite bodaceous for a 3,8% Gose, again silky and slightly silky with lemonade-injected wey. Salty aftertaste, some coriander seed making an appearance as well. Elegant crossover.

Subtle, but so many layers - salt, tart, savoury, bitter, herbal - crazy stuff but crazy good. Has a lot more Berliner Weiss character than I was expecting with the tartness, the celery, the funkiness, but the distinct saltiness keeps it all together. Nice stuff.

Where and how: LCBO, bottle 355 ml
Aroma gooseberry, white currant with soft oat cover. Gentle citrus with touch of peach.
Appearance :
Top: light minimal short lived.
Base: hazy golden.
Palate : higher carbonation but with fine beading, medium lighter body, light silkiness.
Taste: Just right balance of tartness with malty side. Gentle hop only noted on edges. Play of tartness with its texture is superb.
Other notes lovely.

Pours off-yellow with dense white head. Aroma of lemonade, vinegar, maybe some white wine. Tastes of salt and vinegar with a little hops. Refreshing and not. Is it unfair to say of a gose that it’s a bit too salty?

Bottle from LCBO. Pots cloudy and pale with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, banana, and salt. Taste starts off sour with wheat and citrus notes, then moved into a sour salty finish. Actually pretty nice! Smooth mouthfeel.

Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours very hazy pale orange with a small creamy white head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sour and tiny fruity with wheat crackers, lemonade, yuzu, hay, coriander, lemon zest and hints of seaweed. Taste is sour, salty, fruity and slightly malty with wheat crackers, lemon juice, unflavoured yoghurt, minerals, salt water, coriander, hay, lemon zest and hints of rubber. Mouthfeel is soft, quenching, slightly dry, slightly tart and light bodied. Finish is sour, salty and fruity with wheat crackers, lemon juice, unflavoured yoghurt, salt water, hay, coriander and lemon zest. Saltiest Gose I’ve tried but I love it. Great thirst-quencher!

Bottle shared with my wife. Pours a cloudy golden yellow, with a white head that is gone quite quickly. Nose is a little funky and sour. Tastes a little acidic. Decent.

Un étrange parfum d'épices et de citron. Un goût fin de citron avec une pointe de sel. Excellent mélange! Bière sûre bien maitrisé! À la tienne!
