Bottle thanks to Daknole. Dark brown, semi-opaque. Great minerally aromas with deeply toasted grain. Smooth and good capture of the style with dark roasted bread crust permeating the surprisingly lovely beer.

My friend Jay you are a helluva trader, thanks for this!!! Very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and some roasted malt. Flavor is really good. Chocolate, malt, coffee and seems like there is a slight hint of smoke. Nice stuff.

Dark brown. Fudgey nose with peanuts. Very smooth, chocolate and coffee. Very pleasant, juicy finish. Has a great character, very quaffable.

Nous humons une superbe odeur de café qui remplit complètement nos narines. Le goût respecte l’arôme. Ce n’est pas un goût sucré qui nous attend, mais avec une légère amertume. Peu de Mousse, une légère dentelle.

My bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of Viper666. Pours dark brown with red hues and an average size diminishing creamy tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of smoke. Nice flavour of roasted malt along with a hint of smoke, coffee and some nuts. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good beer.

HogTownHarry (5632) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - APR 16, 2009
Bottle (341ml). Shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Deep deep ruby pour, average frothy tan head. Initially vegetal aroma, roasty, herbal, a little sour. The taste is fine - light roast, a bit of coffee, dryly herbal. Light body, slick, moderate carbonation, medium length bitter finish. Didn’t like the aroma too much, but pretty decent in the final analysis.

Thanks to Blankboy, shared with HogTownHarry. Appearance: Black body with a small off white head. Aroma: Pepper, coffee, dark fruit(ish), slightly dusty. Flavour: Chocolate and coffee, roasty, malty finish. Not too bad.

On tap at Saint Bock. Pours a ruby highlighted brown to black with a medium brown head. Roasted malt on the nose. Flavors of roast, coffee, and bakers chocolate. Ends with a light roasty bitterness. Had no idea this was a smoked until entering the rating… never even picked up a hint of smoked. Missed the mark on this one.

Three finger head in a Guiness glass. Bought it thinking it was a stout, now I see Schwarzbier... OK, definitely not a stout or porter. Some smoked malt is obvious in the aroma and taste, it has common points with their great Rauchbier, with notes of fruits and pepper and a moderate bitterness and a pretty long finish. Decent brew but I have no references to plainly judge this one...
