Nice copper body topped with a thin off-white foamy head. Its malty aroma has unusually strong nutty notes. Taste is well-balanced and refreshing, but it lacks complexity. It ends with a decently bitter finish. Drinkable...

Bottle. Fully diminishing small white head. Copper colored body. Vegetable, caramel, molasse? and a bit toasted grains aromas in my nose. The flavors are more interesting then the aroma. Your expectation could be quite low when smelling the beer. Hints of munich and caramel malted grains that contributes to an initial sweetness/maltness. Still some sweetness toward the end but nicely balanced with fair bitterness. Too light bodied beer for the style (or according to my taste) still some kind of mouthfeel, too soft carbonation. Too bad, both the aroma and the watery body makes this beer less interesting even though I can see the potential of something (especially in the flavor profile), still need a lot of work I guess...

(Bottle) Pours a medium, white, creamy head with a highly-carbonated, roange body. The nose and flavour is mildly malty and muted hops. Rather over-carbonated and club soda tasting for me...

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2005 This company now sits in the same location as Bièropholie. I went there looking for impy stout and calumet and walked out wondering if Bièropholie was out of business. The owner/brewer had worked for Unibroue as well as a few other places, a real cool guy. On to the beer. I was really hoping this stuff was as good as the beers that probably flowed through it’s veins at one point in time. Both beers especially this one are very good. For a Vienna, excellent. Just the right maltiness. Just a mellow hoppiness and a lot of grains in the flavor.

Malt nose with a hint of chocolate. Copper, small custard head. Soft malt flavour, bit of hops, light bodied, bitter, fair.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2008 Rating for the new Rousse version: A generous toastiness in the nose is joined by round caramel once tasted, a maltiness balanced out by earthy hoppiness and its decent bitterness. The end result is able-bodied, drinkable and quite flavorful for what is supposed to be their mass marketed "Rousse" offering. Should give Boréale Rousse a fun for its money in the party-going crowd, if proper marketing is done.

Light red lager with a malty diacetyl aroma. Rather plain beer (the brewer even admits it) but it is still a nice little number.

Caramel malt aroma with some vegetable-like DMS. Clear copper coloured with very thin white fully diminishing head. Mildly sweet caramel malt flavour with gentle balancing bitterness. Very low carbonation. Watery, still mouthfeel. Bottle.

Pours medium - small head, clear body. Sweet malts up front as it warms up more bitter earthy tones appear. Light sticky, malty aftertaste.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2006 Pours a reddish copper color with a medium offwhite head. Good aroma of caramel and toasted malt. The flavor is very malt-oriented, some caramel, some toasted and some smoked, interesting. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation.
