UPDATED: SEP 9, 2009 Poured a deep orange red clouded lager in the stein with a massive puffy white cap. Magnificent lacing on the glass Aroma is a magnificent musty, earthy woodsy blast of German noble hops with a decent toasted malt rib. Big chew on bready toasty amber Munich malts up front but this is quickly joined by a massive infusion of German noble varieties making this a German noble hop bomb with a rigid Munich amber malt spine. Absolutely glorious!!!; Woody earthiness outbalances the thick bready core to the finish where light bittering takes over. Great Teutonic brew from a great brewer.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2011 Just above 4 percent alcohol this time around. let’s see if it makes a difference. Poured into my Oktoberfest Stein. Appearance: Dirty amber colour with a MASSIVE head. Random bits of lacing around the stein. Smell: Fantastic. Earth Malts with a blast of German Noble Hops. Fresh bread, spices.... I can;t wait. Taste: Dry malts and a musty flavor followed by a big blast of German hops. The very definition of Liquid Bread Drinkability. One bomber is not enough. Even at just over 4% the flavor in this Marzen is big and bold. LTM’s Oktobrefest simply shines. Goes great with any German cuisine you could think of, especially homemade schnitzel and saurkraut! Note: Grab this one FRESH! Had it again 5 months later and still rated in the high threes, but a Fresh bottle is the way to go.

750ml shared at Tupalev’s, big thanks to whoever brought this! Pours a beautiful hazy amber with a medium white head. Aroma is HUGE on the Earthiness, like big time, with some nice Munich malts in there too. The flavour is even better, extremely bitter for a lager, loads of hops, like I said very Earthy and herbal, astringent. Balanced well with the sweet Munich malts, but the bitterness steals the show. Simple but highly enjoyable. Might be the most flavourful lager I’ve ever had, and a style that I would kill to get more examples of. It’s a travesty that in KW, with the largest Oktoberfest outside of Germany, you can’t find any real Oktoberfest beers. It’s pathetic actually. But this one was quite a treat!

Bouteille 750ml. Texture riche, carbonation faible.

pours copper-red, slight haze, with a nice off-white head, good retention and lacing. lightly roasted malts, nutty, earty and dusty, big grassy hops, light tartness, dry fruitiness, hint of sweetness, peppery. soft carbonation, medium body, short to medium long citrusy finish.

Very hazy amber-red pour with a thick sticky white head. The nose is a little bit nutty with a bit of light yeastiness. Sort of an herbal hoppy aroma. Flavour is softly sweet with a kiss of herbal hoppiness. As it warms it opens up a really lovely crackery malt sweetness. Chewy and fairly sweet with more herbal hoppiness than would be considered typical. Despite these oddities, it’s a really impressive beer.

Wow, really surprised at how much I like this one. Pours a very hazy dark amber with a small head that just leaves a white bubble layer on top. Very grainy, somewhat biscuit malty, but it leaves nice hop bitterness behind. Medium carbonation. Really nice!
