3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2014/01/09 - Pours a brown amber colour with a creamy, khaki coloured head that slowly reduces to a surface film and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is dough, Belgian yeast, caramel, dark fruits and molasses. Taste is similar to nose, but somewhat muted. Toasted caramel, molasses, prunes and dough. Mouthfeel is medium with smooth carbonation and a drying, slightly bitter and sweet aftertaste. Finish is mildly boozy and warming as well. Sweet without being cloying and nicely balanced with hops. Not bad.

Hazy Brown brew that has the aroma of berries and bread. Taste is berries with sorta hazelnut and a slight alcohol twang. Sweet but not too sweet. Very good brew but for the price this one is only for the holiday season.

Aroma is burnt, red fruits, caramel and some apple. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Very carbonated. Bit weird bock. Taste is not unpleasant but I donít know if thatís because itís really fizzy. Thin mouthfeel.

Very drinkable bok beer. Rich flavor, well balanced. Bitter in the beginning, smooth aftertaste. First sip you think itís boring, but the richness and smoothness and the flavors in the aftertaste make the next sips better and better. Finished the bottle rather quickly, thats a good thing!

Bottle: swampy brown, typical Belgian dark ale color with a light-khaki cream that builds up nicely & settles slowly. Aroma is full of some dark fruits, licorice, molasses, phenol, & some Belgian yeast. Light toast, mild spices that are hard to discern. Taste is similar with a seemingly higher alcohol character. Toasty caramel, molasses, anise, prunes, phenol alcohol, mild finish of yeast & earthy esters. Lightly sweet, a touch bitter, with a heavy warming alcohol presence. Somewhat chalky finish.
