aerosol999 (113), Quebec, Canada Dec 6, 2007 Appearance: Russet with gold and lots of thick foamy head.
Aroma: Raisins, malty and caramel.
Flavour: Sweet and syrupy, Big special b character and a touch of sourness. Would have liked more toastiness, more munich or vienna less raisiny.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied fluffy and clings to the palate.
Overall: Syrupy, fluffy, and sweet. Clean and light acidic sourness more emphasis on raisin notes rather than toasted bread. No hop flavour or aroma.
Travlr (115), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 28, 2008 An impressive glass, served with its own stand so it doesn’t fall over. Not very complex, just a simple, sweet strong brown ale. daknole (1122), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2008 Tasting at Brewtopia. Brown pour with a small beige head. Malty and yeasty aroma with a hint of tartness on the nose...almost a bit of funk there. Flavor is pretty sweet and fruity. Some yeasty notes and at the very end I get a cool tart taste. Interesting beer to say the least. bhensonb (3129), Woodland, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle (c&c) from Ledger’s Liquor in Berkeley, CA. Reddish copper color with a fizzy beige head that left rapidly. Slightly woody/vinous aroma. Medium plus body with near creamy carbonation. Flavor is slightly sour, slightly woody. Really astringent. It’s much like a Flanders red? Had I known it was so tasty I’ve have had it long ago. Something in the end like red wine and chocolate. auderale (500), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle: Dark brown colored pour with thin tan head. Yeasty, toasted malts, chocolatey aroma. Sweet, slight roasted malts. Not bad. Arayaga2 (777), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 23, 2008 Brackish cidery brown with dimpled tan head. Aroma of slightly tart candied apples. Taste is same, but even more tart but still fairly sweet. Carbonation makes this pretty light bodied and insubstantial. $7 / 750ml
