moseslikesbeer (171), conestoga, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 7, 2008 bottle. my first thought on this beer is that it’s odd...aroma of brown sugar and sweet candy and malts. Looked great! Nice dark red color with brown head and carbonation. Not sold on the flavor....way too sweet for my taste and the sweet was on the heavy/dark side and I think thats why this beer did better at the last Devonshire tasting than the other Belgian Strong ales that were there because it was a darker sweet and sour. Still not my thing really. No hops or malts to speak of on the taste. Goes down very easy but way too sweet for my stomach to handle.
Beerman6686 (780), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 23, 2008 Poured a dark amber color with an off white head. Aroma was really caramelly and malty. Flavor was much the same, really roasted and very good for the style. Magic_dave6 (4012), London, Greater London, England Sep 21, 2008 Bottle many thanks to a random box from Phil_L at home. Aroma is berry fruits, like strawberry and cranberry, on the tart side of sweet, yeasty fruity esters, some bready malt character. Taste is again fruity, but yet not too fruity, bready grainy malt character, candy sugar is subtle. An interesting beer which i felt the urge to rate fully. DeadGuyFrank (345), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Sep 5, 2008 Dark and slightly sweet, like a Belgian style Scotch ale, not bad - very smooth. A good "mild" strong ale.
