3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at De Metafoor, Leuven, Belgium Saturday 28th April 2012 Copper in colour in this light (quite dark in the pub) with a wonderful white head. Spices and minerally wafts on nose. Steady sweetness, and some spices in mouth, though the strength and alcohol is apparent. Soft mouthfeel, it is a good beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle@Home. Pours very thick with a small head, almost no lace. Very sweet and alcoholic but that’s almost it. A bit fruity and certainly metallic. Almost like a strong lager instead of an ale. Horrible stuff, drain pour.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at Biest poort in Leuven. Bright copper color, clear, thin white head with lots of lacing. Aroma of whiskey and butterscotch. Flavor has butter, caramel, whiskey and a gentle smoke finish. Complex, lots of character. My favorite beer in Leuven.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, 33 cl. Because the Belgian Railways (NMBS) refused to foresee extra trains after Metallica on Rock Werchter (for Madonna they apparently did...) we had to go to a jazz bar in Leuven to drink a Leuvense Tripel. The beer has a light orange, a bit brown, colour, with a medium non-lacing head, which lasts however. The smell is very similar to the one of Klokke Roeland: alcohol, but also fruity and yeasty and a bit of orange peel. The taste however is very different from the Klokke Roeland: a sweet taste, flavoured with orange peel, a bit pear. Also malty notes and an alcoholic aftertaste. A medium tripel like you have some others in this style. Adn a typical Van Steenberghe.
