On cask at The Hare and Hounds, Bury. Pours like a porter. A smoky mild with hints of chocolate. Quite a bitter start but balances well through the pint.

Cask handpull, The Fat Cat, Sheffield. Now THIS is the kind of mild I like; finely sieved cocoa powder on coal, dry roasted nuts rolled around in a just-emptied pub ashtray, black cherry background, red-edged ruby with a yellow-tan halo. Grilled aubergine aroma, bunsened peanut afters. There’s a lovely soft depth to this you don’t often find. My word. Excellent mild, pushing Thornbridge Exposed as Beer of the Day (So Far)...

Cask at Merton Summer beer Festival July 2005 added from notes Can’t believe I never added this at the time as I really enjoyed this mild. Poured a dark brown colour with the merest red sheen. Chocolate dominates on the nose but some fruit there as well. smooth and chocolatey again but not overly so, fruits also showing, really very nice.
