Dark red coloured with some sour fruit flavour. Bitter slight roast finish.

May 19, 2005 Cask (handpump), Lord Raglan brewpub, Nangreaves, nr Bury. A good place to visit to try a number of the beers brewed on the premises - unlike many brewpubs, it carries a full range of the beers (7 on my visit). This is a cracking beer. Although its clearly at mild strength, it comes over more as a cross between a rich mild and a light stout. I don’t know how this differs from the regular Black Pudding mild as that wasn’t available on my visit. perhaps its a potential permanent replacement. It has a good rich deep brown colour. Quite dry and very roasty. There’s coffee, chicory, dark chocolate and licorice in the mix too. Goes down a treat.
