2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 douglas88 (3483) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - SEP 19, 2009
12 oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye. I wonder if this beer is some kind of propaganda by the Chinese government to suggest pacific relations in Tibet. Anyway, a clear golden color with a medium white head. A sweet and fresh honey and malt aroma. The flavor is decent; sweet malts, grainy and easygoing. Not bad at all. Like a E European pale lager.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3182) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 22, 2010
12 oz. bottle via trade; apparently this is available in some places in the Bay Area, which is cool. The bottle is really cool, with a colorful Tibetan prayer flag design. Pours a clear light yellow-gold color with a half-inch thick white head and just a little lacing. Aroma of grains, grass, corn, pale malts, faint hops, and metallic notes. Not too bad for the style. Then the flavor comes along and doesn’t deliver the goods. Corny, grainy, grassy, metallic, funky, and mildly soapy. Shoot, I had higher hopes for a beer I really wanted to like. Light-bodied, with fairly low carbonation for the style. Goes down easy. I’m still giving this a lot of extra points in the Overall category. If you have access to this for cheap, go ahead and buy a bunch instead of something like Miller Lite because it goes down as easily and supposedly goes to a good cause; the bottle says 10% of proceeds are donated to Tibetan causes, though within the boundaries of China now, I find that hard to believe. Drink Beer, Free Tibet!
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - OCT 18, 2009
Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Pours a very clear, pale gold with a frothy white head. The head struggles to maintain itself. Spotty lacing left behind.
Aroma: Nobel hops, sweet grain, a bit of corn, grass, and a touch of honey.
Flavor: Surprisingly bitter on the tongue with some light, sweet malt notes. Also a bit of paper, club soda, and grassiness. Really not that bad.
Palate: Medium, even carbonation with a light mouthfeel and a medium-short, slightly bitter finish.
Overall: I will be sure to try this again when I stop by Tibet. It really is better than most of the stuff by BMC though.

Bottle, sampled at The Big Pour beerfest in Scottsdale AZ. Clear golden, aroma and flavour of clean grains, clean finish with a low grassy hop note. I’ve had worse, and the lady pouring didn’t ask to stamp our passport (freebie!!!).

Bottle in the VIP tent at WBF Durham. Only reason I bothered was it was a new rate and a new country! Straw yellow pour. Short white head. Aroma is that of light grass, soft corny notes, sweet malt and cereal grains. Taste is sweet malts, grassy hops, light honeyish flavors, cereal grains and light fruit. Body is light to light-medium with a fizzy, prickly carbonation. Ends with more grain, corny sweetness, light biscuit, grass and soft honey. Not too terrible.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Papsoe (21782) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 18, 2007
(Can 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Pale golden with tiny impurities and a small, white, dissipating head. Quite sweet malt accents in the aroma. Thin body with a rather low carbonation and sweet notes of malt. Very subdued bitterness - the hops are pretty much absent actually. 171207

I wasn’t expecting much from this but it actually wasn’t that bad. I was pleasantly surprised at the aroma - not skunky in the slightest and could discern a bit of floral hops amongst the various malt notes. Body is a little thin and the taste a bit watered-down, but the malty flavor and hoppy finish paired great with the artichoke dip I sampled it with.
