Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 4, 2003 On tap at the Great Lost Bear.

Hazy orangey-brown; husky malt aroma with lemon, ginger and coriander notes. Moderately bitter body carries brown sugar, lemon/grapefruit, whole wheat toast (what dabosk would call "organic"). Finish carries through the theme of woody bitterness interlaced with toasty notes. argo0 (6284), Washington DC, USA Jul 23, 2007 Off-white head with nice lacing, atop clear amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, earthy. Taste is medium sweet, earthy, some caramel, light lemon. Light-medium body, light resin. MartinT (4458), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 30, 2005 On tap at the brewpub:
Leafy hops with a mineral undertone follow up into a dry bitterness...A lean body soon makes apparent the ale’s immaturity, as the orange fruitiness and caramel sweetness don’t seem cleanly fermented yet...These guys’ brewing system is so small though, I can imagine they’re having a rough time keeping up with demand... ClarkVV (3550), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Apr 18, 2006 Draught pint at the brewpub on 4/14/06
Mildly hazy golden, dull bronze body with a fair amount of white head that his fairly to poorly retained and only creating bits of lacing.
Dry, herbal hops are bogged down in water and astringent, husky grains, as lightly metallic notes waft up, mixing with heavy yeast blandness and limpid soily notes.
Flavor is perhaps the most over-attenuated/poorly extracted of the beers I’d tried while there, with almost zero malt sweetness, certainly no comforting substance. Medium carbonation, no alcohol, heavily grainy and heavily watery with damp, mossy, soily and nearly metallic notes left over from the over-active yeast. Some light fruitiness, dry apple skins I suppose. Watery texture. CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 17, 2005 (Draught) Sampled at the brewpub in Hollowell, ME. Pours a clear, golden body with a thin, white frothy head. Tiny carbonation - nitro? Nose of bitter hops and caramel. Flavour of bitter hops, caramel, and fruit. Finished with a mild bitterness. Average, average, average, average!!!
