GirlyBeer (178), Biddeford, Maine, USA Aug 19, 2007 Sweet and malty with a tiny bit of hops. Hazy brown color with a short head. Mildly roasty with almost coffee-like flavors. Weak finish. Thin mouth-feel.
porterhouse (926), Alna, Maine, USA Mar 31, 2007 (Draft @ brewpub) Unremarkable...Pours hazy slightly reddish dark brown with a small biege head. Aroma was not much - bit of sweet malt nuttiness but even that was hard to pull out. Some decent rings of lacing. Mouthfeel thinnish, a little prickly. Flavor is mildly sweet and nutty maltiness but had to wait a while for even that as beer was served too cold to get any flavor. This beer has kind of a dry and wooden quality. I’ll pass. BigBen2120 (555), Gardiner(52 miles from Allagash), Maine, USA Aug 10, 2006 Rather good. Thin tan head with murky brown body. Lighter bodied than you might expect, roasty, malty, and sweet. A nice little beer. MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 30, 2005 On tap at the brewpub: Doesn’t look like a brown ale with its pale, reddish hues...Nutty sweetness is dirtied by frivolous yeastiness...Roasted malts and bread crumbs scantily covering the hop bitterness..As with most beers tasted that day, this appeared a little too young out of the fermenter... Sammys (428), Portland, Maine, USA Jan 10, 2003 Tasted this tasty brew at the 2002 Southwest Harbor Octoberfest. Solid malt profile with hints of hops in the aroma, medium bodied mostly sweet flavor with a slight hop bitterness arriving at the end to finish things off. I’d like to try it with a larger sample next time.
