COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Right now as you are holding this bottle in your hand, you must be getting to the point where youíre curious as to the "style" contained within. Well as the label ever so subtly suggests, itís all about the alpha. Thatís right. There are exactly 567,124μg of alpha acid dissolved in this beer. In particular, Humulone - the alpha acid responsible for the smooth bitterness balancing this beer. Included amongst the alphas are some pretty cool essential oils too... my personal favourite - Myrcene is abundant in solution. Thereís also a decent whack of humulene too. Basically this beer is about one thing only. Hops. What "style" of beer is this? I guess youíll need to try a glass to find out, DOGG.

Firstly have to thank jimthechap for entering the details - seems to often it is either him or me... I can see this beer getting good reviews. Crisp hop aromas, with a clean pour. Doesnít have the sweetness that I usually like to soften the bitterness of the hops, but this bitterness I guess it muted by the "essential oils" which works well. Dare I say it, almost a sessionable hoppy beer? If you have a shed load of money of course...

Bright golden colour with big white head. Huge hoppy flavour with strong hop bitterness. Smooth dry finish. Aroma very light in contrast to the big hoppy flavour. Go Joe, very awesome.

Pours bronze-yellow, hazy with medium off white head. Smells super hoppy citrus floral with some banana notes. Taste is bitter with plenty of banana hops and some toasted malts. Long lingering bitterness in the aftertaste.

Looks spectacular - golden clear. Aroma is smooth bitter hops. Taste is big bodied, liquid gold. Another great beer from liberty.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2013 Another superb beer from the good folks at Liberty. A worthy backup to what I consider their crown jewel (Citra) this is a beautifully balanced beer that is packed with flavoursome goodness. A great example of what can be done with antipodean hops.

This was fantastic. Huge hop flavours, magnificent oily mouthfeel and beautiful mellow bitterness. This was a real treat, it would have scored higher if there was a little more of a malt backbone to it. But a beer that should be tried.

Itís a beautiful beer. It reminds me of their Citra, in that it tastes like distilled orange/lemon peel. I know, I know, they say itís all about the alpha, but I canít help thinking that a bit more of a solid malt backing would send this beer into the stratosphere.

Jeeze, I feel like Iíve just been punched in the face with a handful of wet hops! Sharp hoppy lemon and grass from the aroma, in the mouth thereís just this full on assault of biting hop notes, bitter and fruity, all over the place, kicking here and there saying "pay attention to ME!" But itís oddly light. If it wasnít for the strong aftertaste Iíd say it was almost sessionable. But, there, the burn, warmth, the bitter lemon roaring around the back of my throat tells me this is a vicious hop monster. Nice, drinkable indeed, but woah.

With the top ripped off there is a massive flush of citrussy aroma. Liberty arenít known for beers that are shrinking violets and this seems to fit within this category. So when it comes to style, you could say that it is a Liberty beer and youíll have your head messed with. Appears orange-amber with a very fine bead of carbonation. The head was too frightened to hang around. The aroma is deep and pungent, but it isnít pungent in the sense that it is lush like aged rum, date pudding or cigars. It is pungent in that the aroma of citrus lobes, lemon grass and green spruce cones has seldom been so prominent. Thereís some American Imperial IPAs that are similar, this is luscious (and meets, unusually, with Mrs Jimthechapís approval). The flavour is full and ripe and just an absolute assault of bitterness. The above aromas manifest themselves in the flavour but the star of the show is bitter. Bitter, bitter, bitter. Needless to say the finish just doesnít. Finish that is. Wow. Itís hard to get over how lovely the aroma is and I realise I have marked the flavour lower. Thereís just a little too much bitterness for me. Usually I donít mind, but it seems a bit out of balance. Iím sure it isnít supposed to be balanced given the labelling, ah well. Bugger it.
