3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From what I have seen of other reviews this is a rave beer. A rock star of double IPAs, this beer sends reviewers in paroxysms of delight. From what I have been enjoying over the last fifteen minutes there may be good reason for this.
Deep orange amber colour with little enduring head, I have seen prettier beers. Aromas of massive hoppy tangerine, chlorophyll, green spruce cones and undertones of amber malts. My feeling is that the malt aromas play very much a second fiddle to the hops in this style but there are examples of balance (see Middlemiss Hodgson IPA). The flavour is just a massive surge of bitterness all at once. A cascade (forgive the unintentional hop pun) of hop driven flavours all struggling to make themselves felt at once like a hoard of children finding easter eggs. Tastes significantly of oranges, tangelo and tangerine with some gooseberry with the malt, while taking that back seat, making gentle suggestions that it too is there.
Is it rave-worthy? Probably. I found it nice enough and I think my rating is justifiable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Brothers Beer. Clear bright golden with a small white head. The aroma is characteristic of citra beers - citric, grapefruit, orange, pine. The flavor is nice with honey sweet malt yielding to a big bitter hop punch. Medium bodied, intense and enamel ripping. Good!

500mL bottle BB: jan 2016. As i pour this clear golden brew i can smell the amazing aroma wofting from the glass. The wonderful tropical citrus fruit is very prominent in the flavor also. An incredible beer that is deceptively drinkable at 9%.

On tap at Alehouse Project, Melbourne: big citrus nose that really showcases the varietal. Crisp mouthfeel. A possibly sessionable double IPA with good balance. If you love citra, then this is the beer for you.

A good, but not great double IPA. I had this at a tasting session (thanks to www.craftbeeronline.co.nz) and it was only in the middle of the bunch, so I was faintly underwhelmed. Strong citrus, floral, resin hops and matching taste, but my resounding memory is that it is overrated

Contradiction to the type of beer it is. Being a double IPA I was expecting it to be pretty full on. But it's more like a session IPA really. Great aroma and fantastic palate. Mild hops. A winner but!

500ml bottle pours a yellow amber color with a bit of head. Lots of citrus and sharp hop flavors.

bottle, big fruity banana and lychee nose goes into a really bitter but decent fruity hoppy taste, big palate with the booze quite noticable, the bitter notes continue all the way thru. it’s not at all balanced but it is packed with flavour and punch . would like to try it next to an epic hop zombie if i could ever afford to buy the two together hehe

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from cellarbrations super store in hami hill. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thick creamy head leaving tones of lacing. Aroma is big on citrus, pine and a variety of fruits particularly mango. Body is fairly moderate with moderate carbonation. Taste is big citrus notes, grass and pine. It's quite bitter but not too over powering. As soon as this one hits your tongue you think it's going to take you on a massive journey and completely destroy your palate however the flavours seem to mellow out creating a very approachable, easy drinking double IPA. So this is very nice but to be honest, I really wanted to be taken on that journey of palate destroying goodness!
But yes, this is definitely a great brew!

Pours clear amber, some foam that reduces fast. Aroma is dry, resiny, sticky. Stickily dry? Lots of citra, freshness, some dry tropical fruits. Aftertaste is somewhat sweet, resins and pine needles there too. Good, very American style, fresh and potent. Enjoyed this one a lot!

0.5l bottle at Pozarevac Grand Tasting 2014. Rich orange, small head. Rich skunky hops. Grapefruit, good funk, lots of oily hops. Rich, dense classic big DIPA. Tasty, hop forward.
