On tap: The aroma consists of some sugary caramel, toffee, and sweet citrus. It’s a transparent amber with a small off-white head that coats the glass with a nice sheet of lacing...an impressive looking beer. The flavor starts with sugary tropical fruits and some caramel. The finish tries to sneak some citrusy hops in there, but the sweetness keeps the hops at bay. There’s no sign of 12.8%. Full bodied with mild carbonation and somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Overall, the citrus notes make me believe this was an attempt at an American Barley Wine. However, the sweetness makes it come across as an English Barley Wine with an American twist. Think along the lines of 120 minute IPA in terms of hops compared to sweetness.
