A clear, dark amber to brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head. Nuts, dust and caramel in the flavor. Some dried figs kicking in. The flavor is roasted and nutty, with some dusty and toasted hints. Caramel and a nice bitterness. Full body, quite dry on the palate, with a caramel finish. Some nuts and toast too. Not very interesting this one, a bit messy. 140829

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Growler: Dark, dark, dark. Chunky and foamy mocha head, not much lace. Aroma is slightly roasty, touch of smoke, a hint of burnt cocoa beans, and a faint bit of milky sweetness. Taste follows through nicely... Roasty, woodsy, like cocoa bean char, very faint touch of anise, and a little bit of dark sweet fruit. Mild coffee bean finish, more roast. Mouth feel isn’t thick and slushy like I want. Kind of thin and oily, slick. Medium carbonation. Very tasty, one of the better offerings I’ve had from Liberty Street.

On tap at the brewery. Pours near black with a light brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces thickly. Aroma has a nice roasted malts with some chocolates and just a touch of bitter dark grains. Flavor has roasted malts throughout with bitter chocolate and a good amount of toffee.
