MiBG Summer Fest 2009, Friday Session: Medium brown hue with a good lasting frothy head. The aroma has notes of herbal honey, chocolate, walnuts, pear and apricot esters and any earthy yeast element. The taste is malty and twangy, good overall balance with a simple dry finish that displays the nutty porter at the base. The mouth feel is refreshing and smooth. A solid slightly sweeter porter.

Pailhead (3449) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - FEB 11, 2011
On tap: The aroma consists of moderate honey, light-moderate nuts, and light chocolate. It’s a dark brown that is more of an orangish-brown with some transparency when held to the light and a half inch, large bubbled, khaki head. The flavor starts with light chocolate before a moderate-strong honey sweetness comes through with a touch of grape. The finish is light-moderate nuttiness and a touch of roast. Light-medium bodied with minimal carbonation and somewhat creamy mouthfeel.

5th Annual MBG Winter Beer Festival, Grand Rapids. Murky medium/dark brown body, thin/medium cream head. Tart nose with roasted malts and honey; honey is more apparent in the body, balanced by toast, roasted malts, and coffee. Bitter finish. I think I’ll be visiting Liberty Street sometime soon.
