3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap: The aroma consists of caramel, butterscotch, rye, and citrus. It’s a hazy brownish-orange with a small off-white soapy film for a head. The flavor starts with moderate caramel and a touch of butterscotch. The finish is heavy on the rye along with some citrus hops and a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. I’ve had this before without rating, and instantly thought this was an amped up version of what I tried previously. What’s on tap now is 7.5%. The difference is noticeable as I get much more eye and a touch if alcohol. Overall, a little too heavy on the rye for my preferences.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear red amber with a near white head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced. Aroma had a light pine note accompanied by a slight citrus note but had quite a strong grain backing. Flavor was similar with a strong grain note with a backing pine note and just a hint of citrus. I wish the rye would have come through more.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours extremely hazy orange gold with a small white head. Aroma is of spicy hops and a bit of citrus. Flavor combination turns out something very much like a Belgian yeast strain, with a strong clove sensation on top of the spicy and citrusy hops and some very toasty biscuits. Unexpected but very nice flavors.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2009 MiBGWF: Hazy amber with a great lasting white frothy head and excellent lacing, that is a good sign!!! The nose is RYE BABY!!! Woo Hoo!!! There is also resiny and grassy vapours, some biscuity malts and a hint of mineral water. The taste has an excellent balance of fruity and snappy hops, complimentary malts and solid rye presence, The finish has a bit of a chalky vitamin note however. The mouth feel is lively and aggressive, very refreshing. This was very good and a good start from this new brewery.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft sample at MBG Winterfest 2009.
Poured hazy amber color with an average frothy white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Moderate rye and citrus aroma. Medium body with a thin texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium sour bitter finish of moderate duration.
Met my expectations with a good start and soft finish.
