My sister lives over in Plymouth and has told me several times to go with her over to the Liberty Street Brewery and have their Punkin Pie. Well, I didn’t see that bottled, but they did have this and their signature beer, Red Glare. Note, this is my first ever "Steam Beer". Appearance: Pours with what I expected to see -- a mostly yellow beer, with a bit of haze at the top. A very thin head with no lacing. Smell: Wow. Really not much here. Then again, I didn’t expect much smell OR taste out of a steam beer. Maybe some malts and hops, but it’s really rather light. It’s difficult to pick up a distinct aroma here. Taste/feel: With a steam beer and understanding the style, I wasn’t expecting much flavor. At the same time, I feel like this is a very mediocre example of the style. The flavor is much too light for the amount of bitterness I’m getting, and it’s just not something I find enjoyable. The feel is middle-of-the-road as well. Overall, this just isn’t a beer I see myself seeking out again. It’s the definition of an average brew.

bottle. Amber with small head. Light hop and citrus, pretty beer mild overall. Easy to drink, but not overly flavorful.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Yellow amber brew with generous white head and good head retention. Aroma of earth, tart fruit, a little resin and citrus hops. Taste is pleasantly sweet at the start of the swallow with earth and bitter hops asserting themselves. Finishes with bitterness offset by some tart fruit that leaves the palate clean. Great balance all around - sweet and bitter, malty but refreshing.

Bottle, this beer had a clear copper pour with a little orange color mixed in, it gave a half finger white head that receded to a hill of bubbles and ring, the glass had a center stream of medium flowing bubbles with a few bubbles flowing here and there, it left a few spots of lacing on the glass, the aromas were light malt and bread, apple and lemon citrus, there were very faint grass hops in the background, a little fruit sweetness, I thought I got some wheat in the background, it had flavors of pale malt and light bread, light fruit and citrus, a touch of fruit sweetness at the start of a drink but little to no sweetness after, the finish had a light bitterness and citrus that was drying, the mouth feel was light and crisp on the palate, I would enjoy this as a good beer for a hot, Sunny day or enjoying after working in the yard.

On tap at the Shark Club in Howell, MI. Poured a clear golden color with a small sized head. Grains with some lighter citrus. Lighter and cleansed my palate.

At the brewery, cloudy golden orange pour, some hop and citrusy flavors, pretty tasty.

Tons of malt and bitter hop flavor for 5.6% ABV! Slightly cloudy golden color with solid body. Hops basically bitter rather than fruity, floral or herbal.

Draft. Poured clear golden color with an average white fizzy head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate hop and malty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable brew.
