COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Get those images of Godzilla and Mothra out of your head! I know you were thing it, but this beer has nothing to do with Japan whatsoever. Yakima is actually a region in the state of Washington USA where some of Joseph Woodís favorite hops are grown. This monster of a Pale Ale showcases several of those hops. "Itís a easy drinking beer, flavorsome enough for your father ín law to exclaim "wow - thatís fruity!" yet complex enough for any green blooded hop-head to appreciate." - Joseph Wood, Liberty Brewer. Gold medal 2012 Brew NZ Awards

Pale copper body with a nice thick, creamy head. Citrus hops aroma, strong scents of pineapple and guava coming through. The sweet aroma doesnít quite translate to the flavour with bitter pine and grassy notes being the main event here. The bitterness isnít over the top and the brew is incredibly easy to drink, still staunch enough to be a noble ipa though. Beer is thick up front but loses its heavy texture quickly, perfectly carbonated though - which helps.

Big hop aroma up front, pine dominating, pours golden orange with thin white head. Lacing. Strong lasting bitterness, good though, caramel malt to pull it all together. An approachable monster

Bottle - Conflicted much! After a couple of other APA (from Tuatara) this was a shock in a couple of ways. Less IBU but then the bitterness was through and through and all of the profile. Much lighter than the recent APA I had too, So much adjustment. However this was all in all a nicely delivered and steady and predictable beer. I though may have needed a food to make it a beer to have more than one of, but then, as you drink more it just settles and becomes that much nicer. (Iíve had this on tap too, and I liked it then, just as much)

Strong herbal malty aroma - good herbal/resiny hop thrust in the mouth with herbal/fruity aftertaste - well balanced with biscuity malt - lovely bitterness - the more I sip the more I like it - very good NZPA, near to outstanding - would be if it was more fruit driven - definitely an enjoyable drink.

Iím an American with six yearsí NZ beer experience under my belt. I recall thinking--once upon a time ago--that Epic was NZís best option. That dates me, since itís a clearly dated view. Liberty is so many orders of magnitude greater than Epic, now, that itís hard to imagine how far NZís beer has come since I first arrived. Liberty is the quantum leap. I can finally say thereís a beer here--not just the Monster but Citra, too, and hopefully others I havenít tried yet--that makes me forget about all the beers I miss so much back in the states. Thank you Liberty for inducing amnesia--or beernesia or whatever, I forget. Oh, and the beer--yes, itís so drinkable and full and--it just calms me down with goodness so I forget what to say. A simple thank you will have to suffice.

Great APA. Loves of fresh hops flavour (surprisingly as I have had this bottle sitting around for a while. Pours a clear yellow, with a big fluffy white head.
