COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong, bitter beer in the IPA tradition. Generous flavor. Uses Nugget for a bitter hop and cascade for flavor/aroma hops to round out the hop experience. A bold beer.

On draught at the brewpub in downtown Houghton, Northern Michigan. Pours a clear golden pale amber colored brew with a decent off-white head that has some excellent retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of mostly citrus and grassy hops with a hint of caramel malt. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of hops overall that over-powers any caramel malt, Finish continues the hoppiness with a lingering mild bitterness. Definitely a west-coast caliper IPA.

Gold color with no head. Very light hop aroma, mostly floral. Moderate citrus and floral hop flavors. Slightly sweeter finish than most IPAs.

My estimation of this went down as a drank. I started out thinking it was really good, but it developed an aftertaste as I went. Generally good hop flavors--it’s a good beer, but not great.

Tasted as part of a sampler in Houghton as we had a couple hours off our sailboat after getting pounded off Lake Superior. I like IPA’s, but this one in particular has a lot to like about it. I found in very well balanced with strong citrus hops and sweet malt playing well with other yellow fruits and aromatic woods.

Tap at bar. Hazy with a golden color. Could have had more hop character. Solid drinkable beer, but could have been more.

On tap at the brewpub. Transparent, honey amber pour with an even layer of white foamy head. Fruity aromas of sweet oranges blend nicely with some soft pink grapefruit hops. Quite citrusy, but soft and smooth around the edges. Medium bodied, borderline creamy mouthfeel. Lightly sweet orange and peach fruits blend nicely with some smooth caramel malt flavors before being balanced by a nice dose of citrusy hops in the final smack. A bit sweeter than most stylistically, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

5 oz draught sample at the brewpub, late July 2006. Clear copper with a hint of head, lasting, and bit of lacing....caramel, cherries and a touch of citrus which becomes fairly distinct with warmth in the moderate-strength nose....fruity sweet body dries out and becomes intensely woody/bitter by midpalate, the bitterness continues on....syrupy, full with low carbonation.

Slightly cloudy, small head. Seems like Coppertowns big brother but not as balanced. Fairly standard but still tasty.

on draft at the brewery. typical IPA, but enjoyable. well-made, if not outstanding. amber and hops and alcohol and it’s done.

Rich clear honey color, with frothy diminished head. Light fruit aroma. Hops are strong on the finish, but not so much on the foreground, which I really appreciate. Great caramel and nutty flavors bounce on the tounge right off the bat. Veryt complex, with alcohol in the nose. Finish is totally velvet.
