Strong roasted malt character with a good hop backbone. Good viscosity and aftertaste. Ranks with GL Edmund Fitz as one of my favorite porters.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown, transparent pour with a thin caramelly head and a ruby glowing hue. The aroma is a light malty blend of chocolate, coffee, english toffee, and a bit of toasted almond nuttiness. Light to medium bodied mouthfeel with some gentle fruity flavors of black cherry accompanied by more of the chocolate and toasty notes found in the nose.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2005 Clear burnt brown pour. Light toast aroma. Lacks much strong flavor. Light sweet cherry kiss and a little malt aftertaste, with a light wheat and yeast background. This is a very unimpressive porter. EDIT: Rerated and much more appreciated, this is a deep earthy full flavored beer, with great balance.
