2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, USA - SEP 15, 2006
5 oz draught sample at the brewpub, late July 2006. Pale gold with no head to speak of....faint lemony-grassy aroma, touch of light malt.....the body has hops! it has hops!; it’s light and watery but there is some real bitterness at the finish and a bit of dry fruitiness....not at all bad for the "light".
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 badgerben (4116) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JUN 23, 2011
Pale yellow color with no head. Lysol-like aroma. A bit of an herbal taste. Slight bitterness. Dry finish.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 EHopper (472) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2009
Tasted as part of a sample after 4 days on our sailboat on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Still didn’t really appreciate this one, it was a pretty regular golden ale without a lot of flavor, maybe a bit softer than most, but not much else to recommend it.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 3, 2009
On draught at the brewery/brewpub in downtown Houghton, Northern Michigan. Pours a clear golden straw colored brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma is slightly fruity, a hint of golden grain malt and some citrus. Taste is light bodied, with flavors of golden grain malt, a hint of tropical fruit and some grassy hops. Finish is crisp with a very faint grassy hop flavor.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 awaisanen (1312) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 28, 2007
On tap at the brewpub. Pours an extremely pale, transparent gold color with a tall layer of soapy white head. Clean, grassy hop bouquet with a twist of lemon. Mild and subdued, but pleasantly fresh. Light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. A thin, crackery malt character starts out the palate with a twist of lemon. Some toothy grains come out on the palate mid-palate, a touch harsh, but it cleans up a bit as it warms. A gentle kiss of herbal citrus rounds out the final smack.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 auerbrau (2668) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - MAY 27, 2005
Very clear, very thin pour, with almost no head. No carbonation. Aroma is stale malt and light cigarettes. Smooth, cool light pale malt with a nice dose of cascade hops that is refreshing. Aftertaste is sweet and sugary, slightly sour. Hints of banana, fruit, and a light creamy background. If you can get past the appearance and aroma, this is a pretty good Golden.
