3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 redlem (1213) - USA - JUN 16, 2006
Hazy gold color with a small head ( which I think is an indication of the way it was pour rather than of the beer itself). Big clove and spice aroma and taste small bananna and yeast. Decent hefe that would of been better if it was warmer outside and the A/C was not on full blast inside, it is the UP for goodness sakes.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 badgerben (4116) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JUN 23, 2011
Slightly cloudy yellow color with no head. Aroma of bubblegum and very ripe bananas. Wheaty taste. Strong banana. Fairly sweet malt.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 EHopper (472) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2009
Part of a sampler at the Library in Houghton. I like Hefeweizens, but after a brief, nice banana, a medicinal flavor quickly built making me think ew.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 3, 2009
On draught at the brewery/brewpub in downtown Houghton, Northern Michigan. Pours a semi-clear golden straw colored brew with a decent white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of light banana esters, golden grain malt with wheat, a touch of butter and some clove. Taste is light to medium bodied, some light spice, flavors of banana esters, cloves and golden grain malt. Finish is light with a mild banana ester/yeast aftertaste that quickly disappears.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - SEP 15, 2006
5 oz draught sample at the brewpub, late July 2006. Properly opaque golden color with a lovely lasting head and thick coating in the glass....sweet spicy banana-bread aroma with emphasis on the banana, spiciness muted....melt-in-your mouth body goes quickly from very sweet and malty to moderately sour, wheaty, tart at the finish....quite solid for a brewpub hefe.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 awaisanen (1312) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 8, 2006
On tap at the brewpub. Cloudy, sunset yellow colored pour with a thin white lacy head. Strong, phenolic aromas of clove yeasty spice, banana, shaved nutmeg, and cream of wheat cereal. Light, mildly spicy body seasoned with white pepper. Pleasantly refreshing finish of leather and more yeasty spice.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 auerbrau (2668) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - MAR 23, 2005
Very murky and cloudy banana colored brew. Diminished off-white head. Hexane and ethers dominate the aroma. Very sharp, tart wheaty flavors dominate the front end, with dusty malt finishing. A little touch of orange and butter in the smack. Palate is smooth and drinkable. An average wheat beer, based on my limited experience.
