3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (6409) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 28, 2006
50cl bottle, named Licher Weizen Hefe-Weizen. Pours a slightly dark cloudy yellow and orange with a proper sized white head. Nose of light yeasty cloves and banana scents, along with a more raw orange and wheat scent. Flavor is a mix between some creamed orange ice cream-like flavors and a raw, stenchy, husky wheat and bark flavor. Palate is lightly active, but not really exciting, evaporating on the tongue quite rapidly, leaving it empty. Overall it’s decent, but the raw and almost overcooked fruit flavors take some of the enjoyment away.

Draught Funky bright orange beer with huge orange-tinted head, very dense. Orange pulp nose, esters with just little cloves, little peppery, and just a tidbit of banana. Lots, but then LOTS of banana ester in the taste, very sweet, rosewater. Very porridg-y, filling MF, as if it were a real fruit pulp juice. Peppery finish in the aftertaste. Pleasing, if tad too sweet Hefe.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 frankenkitty (1958) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - JUN 12, 2006
UPDATED: JUN 13, 2006 Pours a sandy/golden (settling orange) with a huge-and-creamy off-white head. "Off" touches in the nose of spoiled milk, rotting fruit and popcorn butter beneath a cloak of smoke, bananas and esters. Creamy mouthfeel, yet the flavors seem thin. Yeasts come across sweet and fruity with more bananas, but the finish is of sour milk and the lingering flavor is both sour and spoiled. Move on... you can find myriad better Hefes.

Nice hefeweizen pour - a hazy orange body with a tall, dense, crusty head. The aroma is filled with bananas (perhaps slighly overly ripe), oranges, and some zest of lemon. Lightly tart to the taste, it’s soft wheat with bananas and other light fruits followed by a mildly sour lemon finish. Refreshing.

Bottle from MoritzF. Thanks! Orange gold color. Mandarin and banana in the aroma, with a touch of flowers added. Vinous flavor. Very fruity (banana, mandarin, mango). Fruity thist quencher, without too much depth.

Bottle (thanks to MoritzF): Orangey coloured, medium-sized, quite stable foamy head; distinctive fruity nose: cloves and bananas; sweetish, a bit malty, flavour; light to medium bodied; fruity, a bit tart finish, but all in all very mild; goes well down, pleasant............
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MoritzF (7402) - Bochum, GERMANY - APR 18, 2006
(bottle) Cloudy and hazy orange coloured hue with a fluffy white head, quickly diminishing after a few minutes. Dusty wheat-malty aroma, slightly fruity (banana) and more clovy notes. Slightly sweet wheat-malty flavour and taste, light to medium body, creamy textured mouthfeel, also quite low carbonated for a Weizen; yeasty, fruity and clovy finish. Clean and well-made Weizen, but it could be a bit more spritzy.

Bottle 0,5l : deep orange, almost red but still lucent for a Hefe Weizen, full head that drops pretty fast. Fruity aroma, with dry finish. I was amazed how good this weizen is. Its pretty new on the market and the first Weizen from Licher
