3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from a friend. Poured a deep copper color with a moderate, bubbly off-white head that slowly faded to a ring. Some brighter citric fruits (lemon) paired with a softer orange sweetness imparted by the hops, light caramel, moderate earthiness, and some light resin on the nose. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with soft touches of caramel lead into a delicate orange fruitiness paired with a soft earthiness followed moderately bitter, dry hoppiness with some light resin, a hint of pine, and some biting lemon fruitiness. Low carbonation, light, delicate mouth feel capped by a moderate dryness, inviting you to keep drinking despite the ABV. Overall, it differs from a lot of the typical APA’s available today, leaning towards more of a balance between flavors rather than just outright hops.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Much darker than I anticipated, pretty much brown. The head is nice and whipped. The aroma hints more at a rich caramel/sugary base than any hop character. On the palate, the beer is moderately well bodied, and the flavors brings a bit a firm malt base and then a sharp tangy tingle of the hop on top. Decent. (#5558, 6/17/2014)

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml bottle, perhaps a little underfilled, but fine enough. Consumed the entire bottle. Poured a slightly opaque ruby amber color with a small, off-white head. Aroma was earthy hops, almost medicinal (not in a bad way). Some spice, earthy, floral and herbal. Flavor was nice hop character. Pretty darn drinkable. I liked this one a lot.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured an attractive reddish amber, but very slight head. Pine accented hops evident in the nose, along with a bit of alcohol and grainy notes. Flavor is a bit on the grainy side with the caramel accented malts. Moves into a good bitter hop finish, lots of pine, faint citrus. Alcohol pronounced, surprising at 7.5%. Touch of phenols. Almost like it fermented just a hair too warm. Hope they keep working on this one, as I like the concept a lot.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the Brewery This is new brewery in Goochland County, VA. We toured the brewery and tasted this beer. The ale poured a cloudy copper color with a nice frothy head and lacing. The aroma was of citrus and maybe lemon. This is an excellent pale ale. Their goal is to make first class belgian style beers. Their intention is grow all the ingredients on the 221 acres. Nice balance for the medium body ale with average carbonation.
