Belgian beer meets American and New Zealand Hops, they live happily ever after. Named after the Magic Beaver pond on the farm’s property, LCCB’s Pale Ale is a combination of Belgian Pilsner Malt, authentic Belgian yeast and and American and New Zealand hops. Delicious and easy to drink.

750ml bottle, thanks to Jay A.! Shared with alexsdad06 and tmoney99. Hazy orange amber color. Thin bubbly off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Light slick finish. Get that classic musty belgian malt flavor (that I’m not super crazy about). But also some good earthy citrusy and tropical hop to it, too. Pretty solid, tasty belgian pale ale overall. Good bigger hop on it.

Location: Draft at Lickinghole Creek, 5/3/14

Aroma: The aroma has a nice mix of Belgian yeast and pine/resin hops, tropical notes too
Appearance: It pours an unclear orange-red color with a thick beige head and good lace
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, yeast/spice pairs well with the plus hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a clean, easy drinking feel, and a clean, dry finish
Overall Impression: I’ll resist the urge to comment on the ridiculousness of the name. Anyway, I thought this was a very nice beer. Probably my favorite thing I tried on our trip there (waaaaayyyyy out in Goochland). Style-wise, it’s nearest to a Belgian-style Pale Ale or IPA, even if that isn’t exactly where they classified it.

Beautiful balance in nose between wild grape, malt and all around Belgique. Assertive bitterness balanced by a very full and round body which sets it above many other American/Belgian ales which can be overly lean.

Bottle. What a name... poured a very cloudy, almost muddy yellow-orange color with a foamy white head. Aroma was light citrus notes, orange, grain notes and a touch of yeast. Flavor was sweet malts, grains, earthy hops. Alright.

Bottle - 750mL crowned. Murky dark amber with a short tan head. Nutty and earthy hops with soft floral hops, tea leaves and yeast in the aroma. Taste is toasted malt, light caramel, floral hops, grassy notes, earthy hops, light nuttiness, yeast and citrus. Soft spice through the body as well. Medium bodied with a moderate, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more earthy notes, light nuttiness, soft caramel, toasted malt, light grass, grains, floral hops, citrus, yeast and light spicy notes.

Bottle. Dark bronze pour, the head a bit thin. There’s a bit of a ester-laden twitch in the aroma, but it takes some effort to discern it. This drinks with a metallic feel up front. There’s a follow-on sense of grassy herbs, a bit of floral hop, and a final swirl of mild yeast. I’d prefer a bit more heft to the beer, but this is pleasantly drinkable. (#5470, 3/19/2014)
