Aged for over 12 weeks in the choicest 15 Year Old Kentucky Bourbon Barrels you can find. Bourbon Barrel Three Chopt Tripel is not overpowering. Itís sophisticated. Notes of citrus, lemon-lime, honey and coconut are rounded out with the smooth flavor of Kentucky Bourbon. Surprisingly easy to drink at 11.3% ABV and does not have a ďhotĒ flavor.

750 ml bottle. Pours a darker orange golden color with an off white foamy head that leaves medium - heavy lacing. The smell is vanilla, coconut, oak, mango, and passion fruit. Itís a nice base tripel thatís peppery, malty, and hops. You get vanilla, oak, and bourbon booze from the barrels along with coconut, tropical fruit, pineapple, and resin. Creamy mouthfeel with little carbonation and a nice dry finish. Another excellent offering from LCCB.

As bored and tired as I am of bourbon barrel beers, this one grew on me, with a bitterness to keep the molasses, smoke and booze of the barrels.

Draft at the source. Clear golden color, bright white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of vanilla, grapefruit. Taste is boozy and sweet vanilla bourbon. Tasty.

Pours a deep golden color with three fingers of eggshell foam. Lots of sweet undertones of coconut, bourbon, citrus and spicy yeast character. Rich buttery chardonnay grape, soft vanilla, dry yeast. Not my favorite style brew but well done for sure !

For rating 3333, I guess I ought to do a Tripel?
Bottle, courtesy of a kind soul... shared in a location remote of my dining room.
Pours really hazy and golden with a small head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is really bourbon forward, but not especially boozy. Itís got some bright fruit and some honey, but itís got a lot of oak and vanilla too.

The flavor is a whole lot of honey and bourbon. Itís got caramel & some bright and dark fruit notes. Itís got a lot of vanilla. It really does a good job of concealing the alcohol.

After all is said and done the thing really doesnít taste like a tripel at all though. Which doesnít mean it wasnít brewed as one, or that the beer isnít good... but this is one of those where the beer that came out of the barrel is practically stylistically transformed from the beer that was dumped in. What "style" I think it came out as is a confusing question all together though.

Sample at GABF 10/04/2014, thanks to my BIL for assistance with note-taking. Hazy yellow-gold color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lace. Bourbon, yeast and fruit in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, malt and earthy yeast. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and citrus aftertaste. Above average overall.

Aromas of coconut, lemon, lime, honey, vanilla. Clear orange-amber with a lasting white head. Off-dry, fruity notes, some bourbon subtleties. Medium-full bodied. Dangerously drinkable.

Draft at the brewery, 6/20/14. Pappy barrels. Pours a hazy dark orange color with a thin white head. Good head retention. Aroma of bourbon, wood, candi sugar, bready malt, mild hops. The taste is toffee, bready malt, bourbon, vanilla, yeast, spice. Medium bodied, low carbonation, slight booze.
