COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged for over 12 weeks in the choicest 15 Year Old Kentucky Bourbon Barrels you can find. Bourbon Barrel Three Chopt Tripel is not overpowering. It’s sophisticated. Notes of citrus, lemon-lime, honey and coconut are rounded out with the smooth flavor of Kentucky Bourbon. Surprisingly easy to drink at 11.3% ABV and does not have a “hot” flavor.

Aromas of coconut, lemon, lime, honey, vanilla. Clear orange-amber with a lasting white head. Off-dry, fruity notes, some bourbon subtleties. Medium-full bodied. Dangerously drinkable.

Draft at the brewery, 6/20/14. Pappy barrels. Pours a hazy dark orange color with a thin white head. Good head retention. Aroma of bourbon, wood, candi sugar, bready malt, mild hops. The taste is toffee, bready malt, bourbon, vanilla, yeast, spice. Medium bodied, low carbonation, slight booze.

Bottle from latest Secret Santa, thanks Andy! Pours slightly hazy dark golden with a fairly small head. Nose has yeast, vanilla and some booze. Taste has lots of dries fruits, vanilla, caramel and some yeast. A bit heavy on the bourbon notes but tasty nevertheless.

Station 2 for the mini tap takeover. Surprisingly smooth considering the Abv. Hazy straw pour with ring of white head. Lots of sweet vanilla and muted oak notes. Lingering sweetness on the he palate.

Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured a bright yellow color with an off-white head. The aroma was of bourbon, vanilla, coconut, grapefruit and some sour citrus. The taste was similar to the aroma with some caramel and lemon citrus. Very nice.

Bottle @ RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours a hazy golden color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty woody spicy weak bourbon aroma. Sweetish malty spicy caramel yeasty woody flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy woody bourbon and caramel finish.

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Golden-orange pour with a white head. This is incredibly sugary. Holy crap. Sugar, vanilla, cotton candy, and smarties. Lots of bourbon and caramel, too. Some overripe banana and pear, too. Flavor is cloying. Honey, caramel, vanilla, and cotton candy...some simple syrup on top of it. Slight bourbon and oak. Meh.

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm via Jay. Poured hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy complex bourbon, citrus and hop aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bourbon sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a better version that surpassed my expectations.

750ml bottle, thanks to Jay A. Shared with tmoney99 and co. Hazy golden orange color. Thin off-white head, leaves good dots and bits of lace. Nice bourbon vanilla and fruity flavors in the nose, some banana. Still get some of the old musty belgian maltiness that I got from the tripel, but it’s not nearly so bad here, blended well with the bourbon. Pretty nice mix in the flavor. Good medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of creamy, lighter carbonation. Light dry finish. Nice full feel to this. Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Hides alcohol very well - just a light bit of heat on this. Pretty impressive barrel-aged tripel.

Thrilled to make this rating #4500. Pours a hazy orange with some sudsy, white head. Nose is really well balanced, plenty of caramel, vanilla, coconut meat, candy sugar, some spice, a bit of booze, butterscotch. Flavor is nice, butterscotch, caramel, wood pulp, vanillin, a little crackerjack, coconut. Super smooth finish. Incredibly drinkable. Really good barrel treatment.
