Fles mee van het fust. Donker bruin met een licht bruine schuimkraag. Geur is cacao en karamel, smaak is redelijk bitter met een zoete achtergrond associatie met stroop.

Christian (10778) - Odense, DENMARK - FEB 6, 2014
Odense drinking Belgian Beer in February. Dark ruby brown with a lasting tan head. Weak aroma of caramel, dried fruit and cocoa powder. Sweet cocoa and dried fruit flavour with an ashy note of roast malt.

bottled, mowbeer’s 30th beerday. black with next to no head; quite thin and flat; cocoa powder aroma, stewed plum, cocoa butter and vanilla cream; lacking in complexity for the style

Bijna zwart kleur met een volle blijvende crème kraag. Ruikt chocolade, koffie, vanille. Smaakt niet verkeerd. Volle smaak, vanille, chocolade en alcohol. Iets bitter in de afdronk.

Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a snifter. ABV 8.5% Almost totally black in colour, with a brown head on top, tall and thick, with great retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass afterit collapsed and a thick film of foam on the beer’s surface. Aroma of dark roasted malts, light alcohol, lots of coffee, Taste begins slighty sweet but only for a moment and then turns to a nicely bitter one, with a light alcohol burn. Coffee, light vanilla, roasted malts, coffee again. Other than the initial light alcohol burn, the alcohol is very well hidden. Nicely bitter as I said and with a good duration. Medium thick body, low carbonation, dry palate. Overall quite good and easily drinkable, if it wasn’t for the high ABV I would have chugged it. And for that price, makes for a great everyday imperial stout.

33cl Bottle from Secret Sint, thanks! Black colour, beige head. Aroma of liquorice, yeast, roasted malts, some coffee, alcohol, hint of chocolate. Flavour is quite thin, sweet, liquorice, roasted malts, more black liquorice, roasted bitter finish, somewhat sticky. Light to medium-bodied, a bit fizzy. Lacks a lot of oomph and body for a RIS.

33cl bottle Dark brown colour with a good beige head. Nose: roasted malts, coffee, chocolate. Taste: roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, light sweetness, Finishing with some roasted malty bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. If this was a Stout it would be good, but for an Imperial Stout with 8,5% ABV. It’s falls a bit flat.

A bit flat for a russian imperial stout. Not my favorite. Light bitter after taste. Light bitter overall.
