Ale brewed with cherries with natural flavor added. Contains barley malt. Wrap label: "Liefmans Cuvée - Brut is brewed only once a year, in July. After brewing freshly harvested and carefully selected cherries are blended in and the beer is cellared at the brewery. After a slow maturation of 18 months to 3 years different vintages are carefully tasted and blended to create the final result: a complex deep-red ale with refreshing balanced tart-sweet taste, strong cherry notes and sparkling carbonation."

0.75 l bottle from airport shop in Brussels. Very deep and dark red colour with pink head. At first you will taste cherries but after you have swallowed your throat will feel something sour. Yes, the Flemish sour ale comes through the sweetness. To call this cuvee sweet and sour would describe the taste better than just plain brut. You won’t have these kind of flavours in sparkling wines.

0,375L bottle, BB 09.2024 (from Wine of Galilee). Pours red with beige head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is intense cherries, sour and sweet. Flavor is sweet, caramel, cherries, acidic notes. Overall: good brew.

thirstyrabbit (1433) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 27, 2015
375 ml bottle. Ruby red body, medium head. Aroma has sweet cherry jam. Taste has sweet cherry/ripe raspberry juice. Very sweet, this didn’t need to be sweetened so much. Low tartness in the finish. I don’t detect much complexity behind this wall of sugar. If it really is a blend of different vintages then it’s lost to me. Simple and somewhat refreshing (however, the sweetness really creeps up) but generally not interesting.

Cherry ruby red, clean and crisp. Pinkish short-lived head. High aromas of cherry, kirsch and yeast. Dry, pungent and sheer sour. Subtle persistence. Very nice in its style.

Old rating. Red purple color. Huge cherry with caramel malty base. Big fruity sweetness with just a little bit of a tart edge. Maybe a bit cloying for being a sour, but not bad at all.

375ml corked and wrapped in paper bottle served in a flute glass. Traditional Belgian Kriek. Pours a dark red to purple color forming a big, bubbled and fizzy rose head with medium retention and some lacings left in the glass. Very fruity notes. Strong notes of cherry juice. Sweet pale malts. Earthy yeasts and flowery hops. Taste follows the nose. Sweet mouth, strong notes of cherry juice, sweet pale malts. Metallic notes. Lambic earthy yeasts. A little bit syrupy. In the limit. Light body. Medium carbonation. Cherry fruit in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Sweet in the limit.
