This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed fermentation beer, with every hectolitre containing up to 13 kilos of fruit! Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and Goudenband from different vintages, and can consist of between 15 and 20 different batches of beers. The beer is matured for 18 months, bringing out the very best of its intense flavour. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a deep reddish-brown colour, with a pale head and wood and almond notes. On the palette, you can clearly taste the slightly sweet, yet at the same time gently bitter fruit flavours. This is a beer that just oozes class…

Draft at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens. Poured a vibrant red color with a small pink, foamy head. Aroma was a blast of cherries, some tartness. Cherry skins, light tart, but not really sour character comes through. Lots of sweetness in this one.

From Bertaux Frères. Assez savoureux

375 ml bottle from Merkus Hoher Markt, Vienna.
Dark red body, with a small, frothy, light beige, slightly pink head.
Aroma of sweet cherries, oak, overripe and dried fruits, sweet-sour berries, some leather.
Taste follows this, with a bit more fruity sourness.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes dry, sweet-sour, fruity, wooden, a bit leathery.

Nice one. Pretty straight, with dominant cherries and not so much sourness. Not among my favourite beers of this style though, because it isn’t too complex or diverse, but enjoyable nonetheless.

2015-06-09 Despite the raving reviews, I didn’t like it that much. Not sweet enough.

Bottle from World Market in Redwood City, CA. Tinny Juicy Juice cherries with some mild oak and some dried apricot tartness. Good but not great.
