This is an incredible, all-time classic beer. Great balance between sweet and sour flavors. Very refreshing. The delicious cherry flavor and aroma draws you in, but there is also some acetic flavor, and subtle barnyard yeast notes as well. It won’t get you drunk, but it’s a true "anytime" type of beer.

750ml bottle poured a hazy red hue w/ thin white fully diminishing head. Moderate to big fruity and yeasty aromas. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a moderate tart finish. Tastes are cherries, Belgian yeast, oak, confectionary sugar, and lemon. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

750 ml paper-wrapped bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looks: Translucent, dull deep ruby red colour with trunky bits of yeast sediments; Near zero head and off white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Near excellent sticky lacing with notable small carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and tart sour cherry, musty cellar, red wine, white wine, grape skin, tannic, and apple wine.

Taste: Very nice sweet and tart malt, with sour cherry flesh and juice, lactic acid, sparkling white wine, sugar, wood, funk, tannic, club soda, and shades of grass.

Body: Mid to light; Thin but very wine-like palate.

Mouth Feel: Wow! It feels like a fine white wine as a base, with healthily-balanced sweet and tart taste of sour cherries, good dose of lactic acid, Brett-like funky cellar, good tannic and woodiness for good measure. Only flashes of grassy hops to snap me back to sober: wine can’t do shit like this, only beer can!

Hoppiness: Only manifested in hints of grassy taste, otherwise it’s all nice tartness and tannic for lasting, licking finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry; Very savoury to mouth.

Comments: Bought this in the Summer, and I must say the quality of this beauty worth the wait to enjoy this in a damn, cold December Sunday afternoon. Its aroma and taste like a damn fine sparkling wine, tartness and sweetness is very well balanced. Good combination of funk, wood, lactic acid and tannic. Don’t wanna say anymore. Simply excellent!

I know the 5.0 beer rating is rare and reserved for the holy grail of brews, but that’s what Liefman’s Cuvée Brut is for me. It pours a gorgeous shade of amber and has a short lasting pink head. Smells like cherries and a hint of malt. Tons of sour cherries in the flavor, but subtle and never ever overwhelming. A dry palate which is in stark contrast to their Fruitesse (also delicious). Tons of character. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this beer. The only downside is that the cheapest I have found it for is $9.40 (CAD) a bottle but it is worth every penny.

On tap at Manito tap house Rusty brown on cherry with a little white etch atop the beer. Smells of cherries, wood, some leather and a delicate tartness in the nose. I feel like it might have a good dose of wood to match the acidity of the beer. Flavor is tart cherry with some interwoven wood and pepper, a surprising sweetness in the middle there that lightens the flavor into a near fine candy character, reminds me of a hand made cherry cola honestly. Medium bodied with low carb and a semi dry finish. Decent beer, dunno if it’s worth the price tag I’ve seen it at though.

Brown pour with a deep red tinge. Aroma is tart cherries, cereals, some sweetness in there as well. Flavour has tartness with the cherries being noticeable and just the right amount of sweetness and carbonation to cut the tartness. Finish is lingering sour cherry. A little thin, but I sure love these beers.

Pours brownish red with a slight head, really beautiful and enticing color. Aroma is of sweet and sour cherries, oak, some vanilla, and a slight funkiness (musty). It is very refreshing, with a nice balance of sweet and tart, the body is soft and smooth. It reminds me of cherry cider. Has a nice clean finish and makes you want more! The wrapping around the bottle is very festive for the holidays.

Bue en pression, acidité correcte sans être exceptionnelle, légèrement boisée, entre une Lindemans et une Cantillon. Une vraie Kriek bien faite, mais qui reste assez facilement accessible.

On tap at the Old Toad. (another backup beer) Poured a transparent cherryish red with light pink head. Smells sweet with a nice cherry presence. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Yea, it was very Sour!
