COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with cherries with natural flavor added. Contains barley malt. Wrap label: "Liefmans Cuvée - Brut is brewed only once a year, in July. After brewing freshly harvested and carefully selected cherries are blended in and the beer is cellared at the brewery. After a slow maturation of 18 months to 3 years different vintages are carefully tasted and blended to create the final result: a complex deep-red ale with refreshing balanced tart-sweet taste, strong cherry notes and sparkling carbonation."

Bottle. Pinkish airy head but dissipates pretty quickly - pretty while it lasts though. Pours reddish-magenta-amber. Nose is baking spices, candied ginger. Palate is light, tart, and cherries. Crisp, clean, tart finish. The nose was much sweeter than the actual palate on this one, I thought I would hate it but its actually refreshing, complex and interesting.

Aftertaste doce, refrescante.

Bottle sample. Cloudy brownish-red with small beige head. Strong aroma of cherry with notes of plum. Very sweet cherry flavor with some funkiness, notes of plum and some spiciness, light bitterness in the finish. Moderate carbonation, medium-bodied.

Tap: Murky, opaque ruby tinted brown. Beige tinted head reduces quickly to a collar. Aroma of tart cherry flesh, vinegar, lemon, & some sour berry notes all around. Fruity, tart. Flavor is more sweet than sour. Super sweet cherries with hints of cola, very light vinegar, faint raspberry(?), & faint perfume. Thin, carbonated body. Would have expected or enjoyed more tartness but this is a pretty nice cherry fruit beer. Void of medicinal notes.

375 ml bottle. Ruby red hazy beer with a pinkish blonde small head. Aroma has cherries, raspberry, red currant, barnyard sourness and candy sweetness. Flavor is candyish sweet and sour with cherry and raspberry. Palate is thicker than medium full with high carbonation. Finish has mild bitterness. Aftertaste is berry juicy and sweet sour with light oak. Like liquid sweet and sour candy. Just like with lambics, I like oud bruins better without berries.

Had from the bottle on New Years eve -- This was a nice fruit sour. Plenty of classic qualities. Have a New Years!

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 20). Bottle 75 cl - batch 03 010974 AROMA: sweet and sour aroma of cherries and cellar like aromas (barrel, woody, musty). no hop aromas discernible. APPEARANCE: brownish ruby color (from aging) and translucid. thin moussy head of a dark ivory color with low retention. TASTE: sweet and tartaric flavour of cherries mixed with cellar notes (barrel, woody). low bitterness with a semi-dry finish. PALATE: thin body with low carbonation. OVERALL: a not so bad cherry Cuvee.

Barwa i piana: barwa czerwona, zamglona. Smak: dominuje wyraźna kwaskowość i akcenty winne. Goryczka i odczucie w ustach: praktycznie brak goryczki. Średnia do krągłej pełnia, umiarkowane wysycenie i cierpkie odczucie w ustach.

Redish brown thin white head. Light musty aroma. Fruity slightly sour. Pleasant non-beer-like experience.
