COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a mixed fermentation beer, with every hectolitre containing up to 13 kilos of fruit! Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a perfect blend of Oud Bruin and Goudenband from different vintages, and can consist of between 15 and 20 different batches of beers. The beer is matured for 18 months, bringing out the very best of its intense flavour. Liefmans Kriek-Brut is a deep reddish-brown colour, with a pale head and wood and almond notes. On the palette, you can clearly taste the slightly sweet, yet at the same time gently bitter fruit flavours. This is a beer that just oozes class…

Bottle at the Rose and Thistle, Frimley Green - 05/01/13. Pours a hazed russet brown/red with an off white head that clears to the edge. Nose is tarte cherries, sugars and a little burnt note to it. Taste comprises tarte/sour cherries, a little wood, sugars, burnt notes. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, fruity finish. Too sweet and sugary for me, not enough tarte and sour.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2010 Bottle, 375ml corked. Clear, copper-golden body, with a beige head. Quite weak nose with cherries, a bit sweetish. The flavor is sweetish as well, with cherries and some cellar. Medium, sweetish mouthfeel. Long, sweet finish with some citrus notes. I find it too sweet, but it is certainly drinkable. Rating: 6-4-6-3-12-3.1. 070526

Bottle, 375ml corked and wrapped in paper. It pours an unclear, ruby body and a thin layer of off-white bubbles. Cherries, oxidation, cellar, dried fruits, brown sugar and a hint of vinegar. Sort of candy-like too. The flavor is sour yet sweet. Cellar, dried fruits, cherries, a hint of vinegar and a faint note of almond. Medium body, quite tart and palate cleansing even though it’s quite sweet. The finish has cherries on a vinegarish backdrop, with dried fruits and cellar. Pleasant and easy drinking, combining sweetness and sourness in a nice way. 101119

Bottled 375 ml 2004 vintage, alc. 6% (BBE 2014)
Hazy red-brown, small reddish head. Sour cherry aroma, slightly earthy and some leather tones. Sour kriek flavor but same time some sugar sweetness. Smooth carbonation. Sourish and sweet aftertaste. Very well-balanced and enjoyable brew.

A: The pour is a cloudy dark ruby color with a slight cloud and a very mild off-white foam. S: A definite aroma of cherries, primarily sweet fruit flesh. I might pick up just a touch of vinegar in there. T: This one has quite a nice balance of sweet and sourness. The cherry flavor is fairly sweet, but a nice acetic tinge of sourness and perhaps even a bit of tannic feel on the finish. M: The body is medium with a low, smooth carbonation that actually tingles the tongue a bit. D: A really easy drinking kriek. Not overly tart, but still a nice balance and not medicinal or overwhelming sweetness.
