COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with cherries with natural flavor added. Contains barley malt. Wrap label: "Liefmans Cuvée - Brut is brewed only once a year, in July. After brewing freshly harvested and carefully selected cherries are blended in and the beer is cellared at the brewery. After a slow maturation of 18 months to 3 years different vintages are carefully tasted and blended to create the final result: a complex deep-red ale with refreshing balanced tart-sweet taste, strong cherry notes and sparkling carbonation."

It’s very beautiful, deep red with a creamy, slightly reddish head. The aroma has notes of cherries and sourness. The flavour is moderately sweet and has a nice berry-acidity and notes of lots of cherries and a little wood. It’s harmonic and nice.

Bottled 1997 vintage: Cloudy dark red coloured. Nice reddish head, that dies quickly. Wellbalanced fruitsweetness med a faint touch of sourness in the nose. Reminds me a bit of marzipan. The flavour is a nice cocktail of sour and sweet. The cherry flavours are obvious but the sweetness is beautifully balanced by the sourness. Has a somewhat watery aftertaste, but still a delicious sourness is present. This is a very nice beer, that I hopefully will sample with pleasure in a somewhat fresher edition.

Draught at Tre Små Rum, Göteborg. Deep amber, small head. Sweet raspberry and cherry aroma, rubber notes. Sweet cherry flavor. Too sweet and simple to attract me.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2003 From tap. Sweet aroma with lots of cherry juice. The taste is a fine mix of sweet and sour. It seems a bit articifial, because cherry juice is used, and not whole cherries. A pleasant beer, but certainly not a classic, as it was in the 70's and 80's. In the mid 80's a pub in Breda one week per year served Liefmans kriek straight from the wooden cask. Re-rate: bottle. No head. Strong cherry aroma with some oak. Sweet and sour flavor with cherry juice and a bit of an alcohol burn. Full bodied and syrupy. Lovely beer.

Clear cherry red with rosée head. Cherry pulp aroma with sour notes. Rich in sugar sweetness with light cherry, and ginger and vanilla notes, good bodied. The best of the 3.
