COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with cherries with natural flavor added. Contains barley malt. Wrap label: "Liefmans Cuvée - Brut is brewed only once a year, in July. After brewing freshly harvested and carefully selected cherries are blended in and the beer is cellared at the brewery. After a slow maturation of 18 months to 3 years different vintages are carefully tasted and blended to create the final result: a complex deep-red ale with refreshing balanced tart-sweet taste, strong cherry notes and sparkling carbonation."

Big, lovely cherry & yeast smell (as you'd expect). Sweet tasting start till your draw air across your tongue then you get slapped on the mouth by equally big tartness. Like a light, effervescent cherry wine - this is a delightful beverage. Rated by BrewTom

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2013 Brown with red shine, and creamy red head. Smells cherries and wood, with vinous notes. Taste cherry and wood. Little acidity....a nice refreshing beer.

The aroma of this beer started off just like I thought it would. The acidic and tart vinegar. A smell like this used to scare me away but these days I welcome it. You gotta learn to love it =) Mixed in their was ripe cherries. The vinegar was up front though. The taste is why this beer is just world class to me. The vinegar takes a bad seat here. Still very noticeable but the cherries come in and it gives a rich, sweet flavor. Earthiness, oak, and a little bit of funk add in with the cherries and cut through the acid like taste. The mixture of the cherries and the woody oak flavors just took over for me. Maybe it was the little bit of age I put on the beer, I don’t know but every sip was just better then the one before it. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little syrupy. Of course there is a slight acidic feel to it and it leaves a nice tartness sitting on your tongue when you’re done.

375ml bottle - pours deep, cloudy ruby/brown with a slightly pink head on top. Aroma is very sour and fruity, obviously with cherries. I love it. Flavour is equally impressive...I really like this beer. A lot. Lots of sour cherries, some yeastiness, and the fruitiness of the beer is in no way overwhelming or obtrusive. Very full, effervescent and creamy mouthfeel. Beautiful. As far as "fruit beers" go, this one is the best I’ve had.

Bottle, "Kriek." Right after I explained that this beer had a cork to some friends, the cork shot up in the air about 15 feet... Good times. Nice darkish-pink color with a small off-white head, very pleasant. Slightly farmy aroma accompanied the clear smell of sweet cherries. The flavor on this one was exceptional - sweet cherries met with a light to medium sourness which, accompanied by a little horsey funk, made this an extremely refreshing, balanced, and drinkable beer. Very happy I got a chance to try it. Even a non-beer-drinker in the group loved this one.

Non-filtered apple juice appearance, no head. Sweet concentrated cherry aroma with oaky notes. Good balance of acidity/sweetness. The woodiness gets bigger as the beer warms.

Dark reddish colour, small beige head. Aroma of cherry, sugar, wood. Sour flavor, only light sweetness. Sour warming finish. Quite unidimensional.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2007 no date on the bottle, but the beer was pretty fresh This bottle was a lot different than the last one I had of Liefmans about a year ago. This was much less sour as to be drinkable - good actually. Nice lively carbonation and fair cherry flavor was quite enjoyable. My wife hated it though since it wasn’t like a Lindemans.
