COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with cherries with natural flavor added. Contains barley malt. Wrap label: "Liefmans Cuvée - Brut is brewed only once a year, in July. After brewing freshly harvested and carefully selected cherries are blended in and the beer is cellared at the brewery. After a slow maturation of 18 months to 3 years different vintages are carefully tasted and blended to create the final result: a complex deep-red ale with refreshing balanced tart-sweet taste, strong cherry notes and sparkling carbonation."

At vonk slijterij zaandam, bottle 3750ml, aroma of wine cellars and dust, lots of fruits and desant conservation, nice one.

Bottle 2014, BBE indecipherable. Chestnut red body with small and quickly-diminishing head. Sharp, sour aroma of strong cherry and earthiness. Immediate, moderate sweetness followed by an intense tart sourness. Candy/sherbet cherry flavour. Quite full in body with a slightly sticky, foamy texture. Fizzy, with a lasting finish. Overall, a very good example of a sour

Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a hazy reddish brown with a thin frothy off white head. The aroma is tart cherry, light yeast. the flavour is moderate sweet with a big zesty cherry fruit palate. Medium boded with average carbonation. A real sweety... just like me :-)

375ml bottle. Amber/brown pour. Nose is grassy, oaky, cherries, touch of vinegar. Slight reminders of cough syrup in there. Taste is oaky, cherries. Kind of has the sugary sweetness of a faro, and only a slight sourness to it. Quite pleasant but not as challenging as the better fruited Belgian sours. I think it would probably make a good entry beer for someone new to the style though.

Tak jak na styl przystało, aromat winny wiśniowy, w smaku czuć wiśnie i wyraźną gorycz, prawdopodobnie pochodzącą od pestek wiśni.

The classic Liefmans Kriekbier in its new, refreshed appearance, but basically still the same beer Liefmans has been making for a long time. Stable, dirty pinkish, moussy head, staying closed for a long time; colour a deep burgundy, hazy. Rich, complex and abundantly fruity aroma of clearly fresh cherries with a hint of cherry stones, draped nicely over the basic beer, which otherwise reveals dried banana, passion fruit, vanilla, fruit yoghurt, walnuts, orange zest, tea leaves, old madera and apple. The first sip overthrows you with a truckload of fresh cherries, with lots of lively fruit acidity, blending into a more sedate lactic acidity of sour cream and yoghurt from the basic beer (or should I say beers, as this is a blend of different ages), which then comes to full glory offering its natural fruitiness of passion fruit and apple, medium carbonation, woody touches and an ’old’, port- or madera-like generosity in the finish, vinous with a slight bitterness that could perhaps come from the cherry stones. Wonderfully complex as it once was, thank the Duvel for saving this from oblivion. Though still sweetened, like it was before Moortgat took over, it does not become too sugary and the sourishness makes for a dry, satisfying, thirst-quenching end. Still one of Belgium’s great fruit beers.

Big, lovely cherry & yeast smell (as you'd expect). Sweet tasting start till your draw air across your tongue then you get slapped on the mouth by equally big tartness. Like a light, effervescent cherry wine - this is a delightful beverage. Rated by BrewTom
