UPDATED: JAN 16, 2005 1985 1.5 ltr... Poured a reddish amber color with off white bubbles, no head or lacing. Funky aroma of brett, cherries leather, light vinegar; very funky, very nice. Taste was lightly tart cherry, predominantly sweet, though a light sourness was present. Smooth, with no carbonation. Thanks willblake!

Bottle. Dark red, almost no head. Smells of malted cherries. Taste is cherries, but relatively dry and pleasant rather than super sour. Quite nice.

sulawang (224) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 3, 2012
pours dark translucent cherry red, minimal head, sticky lacing, ringed micro CO2 retention, a few extremely slow-moving CO2 streams. Sour cherries and pomegranate on the nose. 7/10-level sourness, 7/10 level tartness up front, transitions into 6/10-level sweetness, tingly-creamy CO2, persistent sourness, flavours of sour cherries, pomegranate, raspberries, mild malts, green apple, jam, all very balanced and cooperative. Medium complexity, medium depth, great transitions, good carry, excellent drinkability. Excellent body as well.

Aroma: Almonds, maybe some bay leaves, strong real cherry aroma, musty, sugary, creamy, woody notes. Mouthfeel: Fizzy, creamy. Taste: Sweet and deliciously sour. Strong real cherry flavour. Finish: Dry and tart. Sour and with just a hint of bitter almond. Overall: Excellent combination of sweet and sour. A great beer, with a character quite unlike any other I know of.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a small off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma is mainly cherries, with some yeast, medium sweetness and tartness. Taste is cherries sweet and sour. Clean crisp finish. Full bodied on the palate.

Draft at beer authority. Nice raspberry/cherrysweetness & floral character, balanced with a little hop & grain bitterness. Good.

2010 bottle, from second to last release on SB. Dark red to brown, hazy towards the end, small rising bubbles, large head somewhere between beige and red. Aroma: sweet cherries, marzipan. Taste: cherry pie and jam, some apples, quite sweet, not very tart but dry. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Had this on the balcony on the first good day of summer, as the old tradition requires.

Pours reddish brown witha small white head. Nose is cherry syrup. Not much else. Taste is overly sweet. Might as well be cherry 7up. Mouthfeel is soft and lively. Long aftertaste and medium body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Just not my favorite style. A sour I do not particularly like, especially in combination with cherry. At least my girlfriend likes it. Bottle from Van Erp in Groningen.

Smell has cherry carbonation exposes the fruitiness of this ale. Sour....very tart beginning to end. Still well balanced with the fruit sweetness. Not light on the palate, but easy to drink with the fairly sessionable 6%abv.
