It poured a nice crisp amber/pink. The head was a light pinkish/beige and was creamy. The aroma was very tart, raspberry, acidic, and a little musk. Ther was actually a little bit of a floral spice in the aroma as well. The flavor was upfront raspberry and sweet, then slowly turned to aged and sour. The palate was wonderful. It was lively, clean, and refreshing. the finish was tart and fruity.

2007 bottle. Pours a murky, purpley-dark red color with an off-white, average, fizzy head which disappates quickly to little and leaves no lace. Nose is simple and sweet with balck cherry and fresh, hand-picked rasberries. Flavor is much of the same with rasberries from the ground, rasberry jelly, and lightly tart notes of black cherries. Palate is light to medium, lively, and a bit vinous. Finishes average length, sweet with a minor bitter, viney note and rasberry jam. Lacks the sharp, tart, acidic notes of most flemishes but is nice and refreshing as a fruit beer. Simple, nIce, not so-over-the-top rasberry flavors and certainly quite drinkable.

Draught at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 11 Aug 2007) Beer #1000! Deep reddish brown colour with brief off-white head. Fruity nose with dark fruit, cherries and raspberries. Fruity, slightly sourish taste with notes of dark fruit and raspberries. Sweetish. Medium body. Nice, but a bit artificial. Not as convincing as the kriek.

I wasn’t impressed with this. It looked good, brown, sizeable head. Nice aroma of sour oak and raspberry. The flavor is disappointing however. It isn’t sour, and the raspberry that is there tastes artificial. Some yeast in the flavor as well. I will rerate the next time I have this.

Dark brown color with faint brown head. Sour raspberry nose. Solid sour body with excellent raspberry flavor - no overwhelming berry bite or over the top sweetness like so many raspberry beers.

Pours a deephardly transparent burnt reddish brown with an impressive light tan head. Nice earthy rasberries on the nose with a good shot of an almost stemmy like earthiness. Nice brown sugar, rasperry, light tart acidity, and a decent earthy finish. Great fruit flavor, but subdued enough to not overwhelm.
