Dark red in colour with medium carbonation. Uncomplicated, yet very appealing fresh and slightly sweet raspberry aroma. Flavors of sweet raspberry, a bit of earh, a bit of oak, and a whisper of sour lemon. A bit sweeter than expected, but not so sweet as to make one think that the raspberry element is artificial. I prefer the more sour examples of this style, but this still isn’t too bad. It would go well with a salad, I think.

Draft from the Rake. Ruby in colour with small white head. Lovely nose of dark berries and sour lemons. Tart taste of berries, vinegar and oak. Clean finish. Wonderful spritzy mouthfeel. Very natural all around.

Ruby-garnet in color with a thin head that dissipates to only a thin covering around the eges. Near nil lacing. The aroma was raspberries, only slight funk. The flavor was mostly raspberries, very slight funk (dusty cobwebs?), faint wood, slight citrus, not syrupy sweet, but very simple and raspberry-like, lacking complexity, intrigue, or anything otherwise inspiring. Again, this isn’t your overly sweet fake lambic, but it isn’t to be adored, either, far from funky offensive too, maybe right down the middle for some folks. A decent, drinkable beer, within style a snore, though.

On draught at The Dove, Broadway Market, E2. Deep rich ruby red in the glass with a thick head that evapourated leaving a fine lacing. Jammy aroma with some yeastyness. Very fruity - jam and berrys, the taste of a good autum fruit compote. It has a suprisingly dry finish that makes this beer very crisp and refreshing. The glass I had was also very highly carbonated, but this was probably the bar’s doing. I really enjoyed this beer and passed up the chance to sample a different brew for another glass of this. Nice that a bar 1 min’s walk away serves this!

First thing noticed is the strong raspberry aroma. Pours a deep red and brown with a small head. Not nearly as much raspberry flavor as the aroma implies. Good lacing. Very balanced and very easy to drink.

The bottle unfortunately contains less than you’d think. Fills the mouth and nose with a well balanced raspberry presence. Finishes just a little tart. Very nice.

Bottle, pours a hazy ruby red with little head. A tangy preserved raspberry aroma with plenty of zestiness that reduces the sweetness - I love it. The sweetness doesn’t come straight away as the carbonation and sourness dominates the palate at first. This then gives way to the raspberry sweetness, which might be a little syrupy, but apart from that is pretty pleasant. But the finish cleanses with some good sourness. I like it, and so does The GrandMistress.

330ml corked bottle wrapped in paper. I thought I wouldn’t like this one, but I was impressed. The cork popped out by itself as it was being opened. It pours a dark brown/red color. The aroma is strong with franboise, not as sweet as I expected, and delicious. The taste is sweet with fruit, but also sour, a wonderful balance. Very good beer to drink occasionally, and it is VERY successful with girls! :)
