For what it is, it’s a very nice fruit beer. It’s much smoother on tap than in a bottle. However, as far as beers go, it doesn’t taste much like one at all. I could just as easily been drinking juice! Very overwhelmingly fruity. But seeing as it was my last beer of a beer-drinking evening, it went down a treat. ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 9, 2005 S’been a long time since I’ve had this, and it’s actualy alot better than I remember; funny how your tastes evolve; aside from the woody and yeast nose, the loads of raspberry to me make it not overly appitizing for a beer; that why I had it for dessert; but, suprize, it’s not so sweet, it’snice and crispy and sour, woody, yeasty and fruity but not overly; very nice treat I should have revisited alot sooner shrubber85 (2836), Wallhalben, Germany Jun 6, 2005 Updated: May 9, 2008Bottle. Sour red raspberry aroma. Brown red color with small head. Sour raspberry flavor with hint of dryness and mustiness. Nice palate. gilvanblight (390), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Jun 4, 2005 Bottle. Very sweet smell with a taste to match. More like a candy then a beer. Taste sticks to the tongue strongly. Somewhat appealing plumb colour with a suprising head. Personally I prefer my beer to not taste like a ’treat’ clvand0 (350), Lexington, Kentucky, USA May 24, 2005 This beer poured a dark red color with very little head at all and left no lacing on the glass. The aroma was very nice: raspberry and sweetness with a bit of musty. I was worried about the flavor because I really don’t like the sour flavor of Lambics and I tend to stay away from them because of that. But this was great. It was lacking that extreme tart/sour characteristic that I don’t like in the Cantillon styles. Very sweet and smooth. Extremely well done.
CampbellWilson (533), Scotland May 21, 2005 Very fine fruit beer. Aroma of raspberry, but with a bit of Cherry and vanilla in there, too. Quite sweet but with an acceptable hint of balsamic vinegar. Not had this for a while and its better than expected.
Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 20, 2005 (Bottle 37,5 cl) Vintage 1991 at 5,1% ABV. Dark reddish beer with a nice, full slightly pinkisk head. The raspberries are very evident although pretty much balanced by the sour base beer. You don’t completely avoid been left with a sugarish feel in the mouth. Then pour a "Goudenband" and be jolly. 130194
