Smoky ruby, frothy light tan head. Nose is cork at first, dry wood, fruit pits & skin, raspberries, woody tartness, a hint of jam at the end. Flavor is way sweeter than the nose suggests. Corky & very rapsberry, a nice tartness balances. lingering sweet fruit. Much better in bottle than on tap.

On tap at Pizza Plant. Big raspberry soda nose. A bit sweet for me, fresh raspberries, oak. Finish is drier than I expected. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England May 14, 2005 Bottle. A deep red colour, with an uncomplicated raspberry aroma with a hint of acidity as the fruit fades. Almost sherbety finish but not as sweet as the kriek. The slight acidity isnt enough to prevent the build up of a sweet syrupy taste in the mouth. Garrat (1132), Suffolk, England May 8, 2005 From A Bottle.Dark red in colour with a small pinkish head, aroma is of raspberry,
taste is fresh and smooth with just enough raspberry, very nice
biggcb (458), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 21, 2005 A very pleasant aroma of raspberries - not too strong and not fake smelling. A nice blend of sweet and sour. Perfect for a hot summer night - crisp and refreshing. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland Apr 10, 2005 pours a rose colour with a tall rocky white head. Nose is raspberrys, strawberrys and a sugary sweet smell and somehopps. lively to drink, tart rasperry finish. surprisingly didnt smell that artiicial, a bit one dimensional, but quite refreshing, a nice one in the summer. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Mar 25, 2005 Pours a very dark rich red color, very clear with a pink head that sits tall. Very sweet raspberry aroma already giving you the impression of the tartness to follow. This beer pours very thick, the carbonation wasn’t very high so it didn’t help out with the massively syrupy body. Upfront the raspberry gives a massive sweetness kicking ass on the palate until the dry tart finish. Only a light sourness came through in the finish. This is a nice brew but really does a number on the palate. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Mar 23, 2005 Bottle pours deep ruby, dirty pink marshmallow head, mediocre retention, very froamy tho, attractive lacing, visible sediment, with light carbonation. Raspberry aroma, quite sweet, with very slight barnyard and earthy notes. Seems a tad corked as well. Sweet Raspberry tongue, fades somewhat quickly, very minor sourness, sweet but not cloying. Smooth mouthfeel, clean finish, slight dryness, but not very enveloping. Certainly enjoyable, moreso on the aged ones.
Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Mar 12, 2005 One of the styles that I still don’t get (and I’m 51) is Flemish sour ale... but I’ll be jiggered if I don’t enjoy this one. It’s not much to look at, a reddish murky brown with merely a trace of a white head. And I’m none too fond of the smell of sour raspberries up my nose. But it’s got a sharp, tart, fruity taste that doesn’t betray the fact that there’s grains driving this drink. The sourness of the nose becomes more agreeable as the drink warms... and more is drunk. Nice tart finish. I’ll have this again. Even if I still don’t get it.
