Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England May 5, 2004 Bottled. Pleasent raspberry, not too sweet. A tasty fruit beer, better than the kriek. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA May 1, 2004 Bottle pours a very hazy brownish red with a real big off white head and nice lace. The aroma is of raspberries and the Liefmans characteristic sour aroma. The flavor is very much of sweet and tart raspberries with a hint of the Flemish Sour notes. The palate is carbonated, cleansing, and refreshing. Overall, this is pretty good. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 1, 2004 Explosive aroma of raspeberries. The flavor is sour to begin with an has a nice sweet finish, with raspberries all the way.
A nice, refreshing beer for the summer. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England Apr 28, 2004 Full-on raspberry aroma, frothy off-white head laces well, muddied leather colour disguises pure raspberry taste with slightly sour finish that leaves a malty hint in the mouth. Very easy going, great party drink. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 23, 2004 Aroma is pretty much all raspberry, you could be mistaken into thinking that it's juice or something. A very dark ruby-ish brown colour with a light lacing. The raspberries come right through, along with some heavy tartness, and acidity. Finishes rather dry. This is great stuff though I kinda prefer the Goudenband. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Apr 21, 2004 Wonderful raspberry bouquet that begs to be tasted. Huge mousse-like red-tinged tan head on reddish borwn body. Head recedes slowly with excellent lacing. Nice strong raspberry sweetness with strong underlying malt flavour and a sweet yet tart yeast flavour that begs to be savoured. Balanced a bit on the sweet side but excellent nonetheless. High carbonation reminiscent of finest champagne. Bottle (green but wrapped in paper to keep out light - date on cork 2003). Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Apr 18, 2004 Well, as I look at info on this beer, its referred to as a “Lambic, Old Bruin, and a Flemish Sour”? Well I really don’t give a “Rats Patootie” what sub-style it is, the one thing I know is that it’s a damn good tasting brew and that’s the most important thing to me the fact that I “enjoy” it!
As the beer sheds its 750ml green corked bottle the color is nebulous reddish-purple, the head is stupendous, creamy and a toothsome light tan in color, the lace clings mightily to the sniffer. The nose simply reeks of Raspberries, sweet and tart, crisp and a hint of yeast appears with the start ambrosial and the top is light to moderate in feel. Finish is prickly in its acidity, the flavor of the Raspberries carries to the very dry aftertaste, a real treat as I seem not to sample many Lambic’s, a sad fact of my continued search for the “Ultimate Beer Experience”.
Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA Apr 14, 2004 Reddish colour with a small head. Aroma is very raspberry, some vinegar. Taste is tart raspberries with an acidic finish.
