Flavour strikes a perfect balance between sweet and sour, with a ripe, fresh fruit character and a nice hint of earthy malt to hold it together. Unlike many fruit beers, it's refreshing without being cloying. Well done! muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 17, 2004 375 ml bottle, 2001. Murky orange-pink-brown, little head. Very thick-looking. Really nice fresh raspberry-vanilla aroma, subdued but delicious. On the tongue, very well-balanced, sour enough to keep from cloying but juicy with fresh ripe fruit, and a nice herbal leafy quality. Excellent full mouthfeel, refreshing yet palpable and demanding attention. Like the Kriek, not the most complex of beers, but this is just a little more drinkable and fresh-tasting. A delight. Not too sour. Pink color and nothing much else. I tried to really feel it, but it wasn’t happening. Kinz (2200), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 7, 2004 For some reason I can never seem to remember to put in my rating for this beer. Draft. Pours a murky, rather unappealing brown with little head. Aroma is pure raspberry with a hint of syrup and sour funk. Quite sweet in nature, but a wonderfully refreshing pure raspberry flavor, no artificial notes present. Something complex and vaguely Belgian is also lurking underneath here. A good, fun beer, couldn't recommend it more with chocolate deserts. iwantalambic (1385), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2004 12 oz corked and caged: gloomy purple/maroon. Thick seedless raspberry flesh with a background musty tartness. Finish is wonderfully sweet and leaves a fruity stickiness throughout the mouth. Aroma contains the leftover raspberry seeds, and a damp earthy bitterness. In the mood for some tart fruit, then enjoy. . . Hansen (2266), Randers, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2004 Low head, brown with a little bit of red. A little acidity in the aroma, but the overall impression is raspberrys, raspberrys and more raspberrys. JMerritt (1315), Macomb, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2004 2000 vintage. Clear red-amber. Head is very small, and falls to a thin white ring that hugs the rim of the glass. Tart red raspberry aroma is not overly strong. Lightly tart raspberry flavor is slightly acidic at the beginning and has a defenite maltiness to the middle. Finish is lightly sour. Somewhat light on the palate; I won't go as far as saying that it was watery, but it was a tad thin. Still, this was quite good, especially when sharing with the Mrs. on Valentines Day. jerc (3885), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2004 Hazy read amber body with a big sweet fruity aroma. Tart in the flavour, bit more of the base beer coming through than anticipated. Aftertaste is very interesting with leafy notes, and lots of what tastes like the concentrated flavours of the seeds on the raspberry in the finish. A very nice beer.
