The slight sourness makes this real good. This is not as sweet and sticky as most other frambozenbier and kriek. I love raspberry and I like this even though it is a girlish beer.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2004 Pretty much sediment. Nice natural raspberrie-taste. Nice beer both sour, and sweet.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Though I’d take something nice for the big 300. Faintly hazy pink red with large lasting light beige head. Natural ripe raspberry aroma and not much else. My favorite kind of medium strong sour unripened raspberry and some faint yeasty flavours. Slightly sweeter middle and sour dry refreshing finish. Nice one Liefmans!

Incredible aroma of dusty raspberries. Brownish pink-purple with a single-bubble layer of fizz for a head. Earthy, acidic flavor that has a slight astringent quality, akin to powder candies (sweettarts, smarties). Notes of quinones (bitters) on the lips and the side of the tongue. Different.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2001: There is absolutely no hint of foam atop this extremely hazy copper liquid. The aroma is jam packed with fresh raspberries; mustiness, spice, and wood contribute nicely as well. Begins rather flavorless with oxidation. The brief finish is uneventful, only showing raspberries and fuzziness. The sour snap is less obvious than I wanted. The toasted malts are noticeable, yet remain very subdued. Unfortunately this had me yearning for much more complexity. The ripe fruit flavors and the aroma are its only plus.

The aroma hits you before you even open the bottle -- rich, pure raspberry. The color is light amber with a reddish tint. The flavor is a tart raspberry. Nice. It doesn’t have many qualities that I usually associate with beer. You don’t taste the hops, the malt, the yeast. Just fresh raspberries.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Intense raspberry aroma, and it carries through in the taste. The sweetness greatly exceeds the hint of sourness, leading me to think of soda rather than beer. It’s good, not great.
