The aroma hits you before you even open the bottle -- rich, pure raspberry. The color is light amber with a reddish tint. The flavor is a tart raspberry. Nice. It doesn’t have many qualities that I usually associate with beer. You don’t taste the hops, the malt, the yeast. Just fresh raspberries.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Intense raspberry aroma, and it carries through in the taste. The sweetness greatly exceeds the hint of sourness, leading me to think of soda rather than beer. It’s good, not great.

Bit artificial aroma of raspberries and lemon. Sweet and sour taste with raspberries, lemon and even orange. Tastes a bit like cheap sweets. Thin-bodied. The Goudenband is much better!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very slightly pink. Cloudy and tan-auburn, looking like iced tea more than anything else. Head is small, just a shade of lavender in color, no pinkiness at all. Nose is very tart, plenty of raspberry with some vanilla and breadiness. Flavor starts very tart and sour, quite sugary, with both raspberry and strawberry. Next impression is not of rasberry flavoring, but very real raspberries, with the tartness balanced by a strong, fruity bitterness. Brew finishes very yeasty, very much like a chocolate chip cookie. Very different than Lindemann’s, yet very tasty in a radically different way.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Reddish amber color with a thin fizzy head that quickly dissipates. Small dark particles in the bottom of the glass. Intense sweet raspberry and yeast aroma. Raspberry flavor with citric acidity, bitterness, and slightly astringent taste; similar to a cocktail of grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, and tea with lots of raspberries, of course. Delicious beer, not as sweet and more champagne like than Lindemans.
